Good Friday isn't a public holiday in the U.S. At least it wasn't in 1997 when I was there as the guy we stayed with had a sickie that day to hang with us

Gilligan at AFL HQ said today if it wasn't round 1 there may have been footy this GF.
Roll out the excuses you silly fool.
Next year's excuse will be because his dog was sick or something as utterly stupid.

So no real sport - just a bit of stick and ball, and ball and hoop?dragit wrote:Which top level sports don't play on good friday?saynta wrote:SFA I would think.desertsaint wrote:Okay - so name how many american, british, and european top level sports play on Good Friday.Enrico_Misso wrote:The AFL's reluctance to play on GF is an international embarrassment.
Totally out of touch.
Shouldn't be any sport on good Fraiday IMHO.
Don't like it then go live somewhere else.
ML Baseball has 16 games on good friday this year
NBA has 9
NHL play 3 games.
Australia is playing a T20
NFL is off season.
EPL don't play on fridays generally anyway…
lose the sanctity of good friday then we may as well lose it as a holiday - like 37 states in the USA. but hey - they get to watch sports instead!

What are the top level sports that you were referring to that withhold playing on good friday?
queens birthday, anzac day, labour day, melbourne cup & grand final… none of these are revoked if you aren't interested, I'm not sure why you would threaten to do that with good friday... seems very uncharitable.
