I am not all that interested in the others although if we can get Hurley for nothing obviously that would be a massive win.

If I had to to bet I would say we have a good shot at Steele. I think Marchbank will head to Carlton along with Tomlinson.

Hurley - I dont know. Seems like the Dees have a shot because of relationship with Goodwin and Melksham.
Carlton are going for the same gws players as we are I'm more than happy with Steele on his own but what can we offer?
He's not worth our pick and we dont have a second rounder, a bundle deal or something back using our first?

Or next years Second?

I cant see us getting Hurley we'd have to sell the farm and makes the above even more difficult
Who have we got with currency that we can trade out?

Especially since he's just gone in for arthroscopic surgery on his knee and won't play this season:

I would be disappointed if we went down this path, especially since we've already missed so much time out of Carlisle and Freeman.
Yeah its a HUGE gamble and if we were waiting to see how he went, we wont know any more. He'd have to come cheap, but that's now whats being bandied about
with his price only slightly cheaper.

I'd be looking at the best mid available, if its Mitchell so be it, Brad Crouch may of also been a good fit for us but C7 in Adelaide are saying its a done deal that he's re-signing and will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

We've got the cash to go after a big name but always seem to be looking for a bargain, perhaps the thought is we can develop our own midfield but geez the North game made us look a long way off. Tag Jackie boy and you beat the Saints. I'm still at a loss though why we didn't try to mix our midfield up a bit more, but then that's another story.

I like Mitchell and I reckon you'd get him cheap (relatively) with Sydney getting all those top tier academy kids for nothing - Heeney, Mills et al.

We need to import some talent though. Mitchell or Prestia or something of that ilk is a must.

I am with those who want to throw the kitchen sink at Fyfe.

As much as I would love him we couldn't spend $1.5m on one player surely?

You can add my name to the list.

Now I'm hoping we dont spend all our cash on Hurley.

Add Fyfe to our midfield and it changes the dynamics, Jackie boy would benefit along with the rest, throw in an improving Gresham and Acres and look out :)

can't see fyfe leaving freo unless rumours about his popularity with teammates is true. even then, just can't see it.
but if at all possible, get him. why we're at it get rance, coniglio, and talia!

The salary cap is going up, so we'll have more
But currently he's on $2.5 million over 3 years,

We'd have to have a serious look we can't keep front loading contracts forever and we ARE in the market for a FA

You didnt see the news?

For example

Fyfe to look at 'every possible option' on future
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-10/f ... ing-future

Nat Fyfe will look at other options if he doesn't see growth, success at Freo
http://www.watoday.com.au/afl/fremantle ... qpofz.html

Now if only we had someone we could send over there for a couple of chats

James Stewart is another who will leave GWS, I cant believe he doesnt get mentioned more as a target? He is 197cm's strong mark could fill the ruck/forward role or key defender. IMO is a better option than Marchbank because of his versatility. If the Saints dont get Hurley, Stewart would be the next on my list for a key tall.

Package Stewart with Jack Steele would be perfect for us.

i see a player maximising his next contract - at freo. never say never, but.

Yeah you're probably right, the mail is were supposed to be seriously looking for a Mid FA next year, and theres a few good ones available.A lot can happen though with Fyfe putting his name out there, he may not be able to resist some of the offers

Jack Steele Pulls Out Monster Game In The NEAFL

He amassed 43 disposals - 33 of them kicks.

On top of that he managed seven marks, seven tackles, nine inside 50s and slotted two goals

He will be at Richmond, or at least that is his preferred option, I believe.

So you both have definite sources?

What kind of masochist wants to go to Richmond?

So now we will probably finish 9th or 10th.

What is the provisional top 10 draft order ?

1. Essendon
2. Lions
3. Freo
4. Carlton
5. Gold Coast (Suns of Beaches  )
6. Richmond
7. GWS (Treloar pick)
8. Port
9. Saints
10. Gold Coast (Oliver pick)

You'd be thinking of Prestia

That sounds right to me.

I'll be very pleased to land Steele. Very pleased indeed.
With Acres Steele Ross amd Steven in the midfield we will be competitive.
We just need Freeman to come good.

What key backs are available?

Fisher won't be back next year, even if he wants to go on.

But we only have Carlisle as a tall back with Goddard coming of an injury and Delaney who couldn't get a game this year.

Maybe they've already "unofficially" got a backman coming in?
