I am still unsure why people rate Paddy so highly? Forget his draft pick number as that is meaningless now. What has he done yet? He looks unfit, has terrible awareness of his surroundings hence his last concussion, has the ball go thru his hands a lot, has no tank, no real speed and is not overly agile? I am not saying he wont be ok but a champion? really
Well, I don't disagree with you - I'm just looking around our stocks and trying to think who even looks the part! Who has the presence to be a champion? I think we have many potential A graders (steven, membrey, ross, gresham) - but I'm not sure any of them have the presence. That's what Paddy has.

I remember seeing an interview with Orson Welles and he said he was a "King" actor. He wasn't bragging about how good he was, just that he could only play those kind of roles. I think (if he makes it at all) that's the sort of player Paddy will be.

We currently don't have a player in the top 50 in the comp.
Arguably we don't have a player in the top 100 in the AFL.
Jake Carlisle in the top 50 I recon
Ross top 100

Slim pickings though

Never been a big fan of too many eggs in the one basket. Pay a guy squillions and bring him in as some sort of messiah and you may be s knee reconstruction away from disaster. Prefer to grow and nurture our own superstars if possible

Right now, Carlise and Membrey are a class above the rest of our squad. Mind you, Membrey couldn't get a regular game at the Swans! Maybe we need to look at recruiting players who have quality, but can't quite get senior games with top clubs- strange, but may be an answer.
The club thought needs to have a serious review on recruiting and development over the last few years.

We also enter 2018 with the greatest wad of cash and draft picks the club has ever had !
With Nick and possibly Monty retiring it opens up even more cash.
We could bring in half a dozen seriosly good footballers.
A very close inspection of our current list is required.
We have to get ruthless.

Membrey was only 19 at the Swans it wasn't as if he was a donkey.
