Any credibility you had was thrown out the door when you showed time after time that you were biased when it came to the Hickey vs Longer debate. You are clearly compromised. You are better off staying neutral or not commenting. At least then, your point of view might have some credibility on other topics
Whatever, Hickey is rubbish, end of story!!!!!

Funny how other clubs interested in Billy, but NOT Tom, they must lack 'creditability' as well, haha!!!!!

I’ll tell you something Stone

I am in contact with a Club I represented once upon a time and where they seek my IT re any player where there is a possibility that player will not have their AFL Contract extended

My advice on Longer is don’t bother - the ruck resources including at Under 18 level are far superior to Longer and what he would bring to my former Club

The days of playing a ruckman devoid of any capacity except to sometimes contest a bounce or boundary throw in are well and truly gone - at every level of football not the least AFL level

Stoney, do you think Billy can overcome his shortcomings? Can he play the traditional Ruck role, playing a kick behind play, getting to marking contests and been a good option for the down the line kick? Is it his tank?

Also, what do you think Marshall needs to do to be a No.1? I doubt that he's a key forward, big turning circle and blokes that big usually don't get more nimble with age. Obviously he needs to build his tank and strength. Do you think its in him and if so, how long should it take for him to get there?

Billy is being played as a 'defensive ruckman',- crash and bash style, stopper style ruck!!!!! That's how they want to use him!!!!!

As a youngster, Billy was more attacking, however those at St.Kilda see his role as more a defending type!!!!! Can he change, the short answer is 'yes', if he goes to say Geelong, he would be allowed to play a more attacking type game, he would be very successful at a Geelong or GWS!!!!!

Tom in the other hand plays a more 'attacking' type role, but way too offensive and all jokes aside 'too soft' at the contest and forgets to defend often!!!!!

Marshall has the potential to play the role perfectly, however is still too young and lightly framed at this point!!!!!

You are correct, he will be a better ruck than forward, as you stated, turning circle is too big, opponents easily run off him!!!!!

It will be 3-4 more years before we see Marshall playing he's best footy in the Ruck!!!!!

As I have stated many times before, Hickey is horrendous at the contest, probably the worst seen at St.Kilda!!!!!

Your average Joe ( many posters on here), that really know little about Ruckmen and their true roles will not even notice Hickey's weaknesses!!!!!

How many times did Nank get separation on him on Friday night?????

I know the answer, not many others on here would, they just sucked in by Tom's cheap possies around the ground!!!!!

Many of the opposition rucks enjoy playing against Tom!!!!!

Thanks Stoney.

Its lamentable that they're playing Billy that way, at this stage of the season they should play him as you suggest! If Geelong are in to him, that means he can play. Stephen Wells is one of the best recruiters in the game. Geelong know the importance of a good No.1. Ottens, and they rue the day they had to trade Mumford. Its their weakness at the moment, a midfield including Dangerfield, the Selwood bros, Ablett, Kelly, Duncan and they haven't been dominant. Why? Their problems in the RUCK!

If Geelong are in to him, then we need to keep him and get the best out of him.

Seperation! On a number of occasions Nankervis just pushed Hickey out the way with one hand. Then Caddy, just pushed him out of the way with one hand and marked on the goal line. Call it insipid or whatever, Hickey's just not there 100%, for whatever reason.

What a load of s***... Geelong are hopeless at recruiting rucks that's why they're still searching.

Good luck to them if they stump up for longer who can't get a game at st kilda, like they did Stanley.

Fair call.
Bring in Hugh as well.
Savage and Newnes out.
Good selecting
Hugh in
That should help us get pick no2.

It sure hit you hard when you got cut from the list because the club traded a first round pick for Hickey.

Sure, we'd all like to see Freeman, Goddard and Pierce get a chance, but right now we need to focus on the main prize - getting browny to 200, Mav to 150 and Longer to 2 kicks.

You are all forgetting something. Lonie is back from injury this week so straight in. Sam Walsh here we come.

On a more serious note Ben Long is close to coming back which is great news for him. a few more games into him this season will be great for him and help with next year's pre-season.

Freeman to play next week if he has a great game this week. Paton sounds like he will play this week if you listen to Richo's message after last weeks game as will Jimmy Webster if fit.

Watch this weeks Sandy game and ask yourself if you really want Goddard to play after it. He is the big slow witch's hat in defense.

Pierce is no better than Hickey or Longer. Face it we will struggle in this department unless we draft a ruck in round four or someone steps up.

The fundamentals of team sport have been totally ignored when you single out just 1 player.

It's this sort of post which continues to push an agenda where you lose all credibility. It's biased and subjective and has nothing to do with reality. You and some other simpletons just want to use Hickey as a scapegoat for a 10 goal loss and it highlights how poor a judge you are. Have you looked at the stats on the night for the ruckmen? When Hickey went head to head with Nank the stats show he beat him. Not Hickey's job to win the groundballs. Why do you continue to repeat the same boring baseless bulltish?
Coaches vote for Nank, justifies my argument, again!!!!!

Do you regularly just make stuff up SC? I don't know you or TtT but where in TtT's post does it say that he/she played in the AFL? (Hint: he/she didn't). I actually took it as read that TtT probably played at a suburban/country/ammos club .... as in the kind that regularly tries to recruit AFL players post-the end of their career.

You're just plain bizarre sometimes SC.
