Yes I think I do. He is type 1 diabetic and rapid wait loss means that you are not controlling it well. Oh dear!
actually is a positive if you are able to loose weight on type 1:
means:
Less insulin intake, improved weight management.
Reducing insulin intake safely. ...
Lower your carbohydrate intake. ...
Lower your protein intake. ...
Increase physical activity. ...
Reduce snacking. ...
Reduce basal insulin gradually
overall an overweight type 1 is not essentially balanced.
That's pretty much it.
He did this last year however. He really needs to get it under control and not balloon through the season proper when they manage the workload.
Last chance year for him IMO. He needs to get it together.

Listened to Ratten's interview on SEN via the podcast feed... very impressed, he is a legit operator by the sounds of things. Can't wait to see what he can do next year.

Sounds like he doesn't want the top job and may be happy to help his mate out in Richo and let him deal with the extra hassles the head coach has to deal with.
