Someone change my mind. Given he was there an the senior assistant - why didn’t we improve more at the start of the year? How different is the messaging or it is more of the natural wind you get with a coach with nothing to lose?
I actually thought we improved dramatically at the start of the year.

Looked fitter & hungrier.
Won games in pre-season comp and started the season well.

Big improvement on 2018 IMO.

No idea if Ratten was responsible or is the messiah, none at all. I don’t have an opinion on who should coach but I have an opinion on who shouldn’t.

Improved so much we lost about 10 games on the trot and had the head coach sacked 3/4 of the year in.

Same reason Carlton sucked whilst Teague was a senior assistant probably.

Exactly so is it more that the caretaker has nothing to lose so plays an open, attacking style that’s not sustainable long term to gain a contract.

We’ll have to judge next year. Not many examples of caretakers taking the full time job except Paul Roos... and we know his style once in the gig full time.

It's the sugar hit of the caretaker coach taking over.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Sugar hit is a great term for it.
