The marking and general skill level of the 97 Prelim, in muddy conditions, is incredible to watch

Speaking of marking, how good was Stewart Loewe in those highlights!

Took Mew to the cleaners, easily the best contested mark I have ever seen.

Nothing, absolutly nothing ,beats a one point win over the filth to win the 1966 grand final.

True, but most of us on here weren't there, or even alive for it so it makes it hard for us to see '66 as a great win.

I reckon the 92 final win against them was great because I remember the match, and even the 1972 second semi final win against them as well - although that is a dim, distant memory.

Reality is wins in the '80s (25 wins in a decade!) or even throughout the entirely forgettable 1977-1990 era were so few and far between that a lot of people on here remember wins from that time a lot more fondly than perhaps we really should because every win we had back then was like a premiership.

1994 - (Harvey kicks miracle boundary goal against GF-bound Geelong)

Thanks to Everton and Jaxons for the hard work here.

Lazy Sunday afternoon and I watched this video. It was actually 1995. 2nd v 2nd last.

https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1 ... 50716.html

I don’t remember seeing this on TV and there’s no logos or scores. But it’s filmed from multiple cameras. Maybe the scoreboard footage. And 3AW commentary!

Some notes.
Gary Ablett was pretty handy.

We won despite having the likes of Coghlan, Nugent and Mark Kennedy. Although Coghlan looked pretty good and kicked 3 goals. Kennedy registered no stats. An unused interchange?

Harvey’s goal. WOW!

We beat both Grand Final teams in 95.

We also beat the team that finished third that year too - Richmond - by 8 goals - at Princes Park!!!

I'll cut it down to two games.

1997 - Round 19 Sydney v St.Kilda. Unlike in 1994 when the Swans were a rabble, both sides were eyeing a Top 4 finish. At times we were six goals down, but finishing over the top of them in the last quarter, proved that we could mix it with anybody.

Move forward to 2005 - Finals. Harveys game, (and to a lesser extent, a kid by the name of James Gwilt. The second quarter was amazing. For Harvey to play like that in a Final, especially interstate, was brilliant.

Yes, in many ways the 2005 QF in Adelaide is our best win in over 50 years - shaded slightly by the 97 prelim. Although beating Richmond in the '71 Prelim was also a mighty effort.

Really?. 1985
Round 1 - L 110
Round 2 - L 140
Round 3 - L 112

Awesome start to the season, but we showed them Roy boys! Beating them twice!
(Only wins for the season)

Round 16 At Vic Park was our second win..
Spud, Plugger, Burnsy, Joffa, Morwood, Fochini,
and for Fitzroy,Tim Pekin, Grant Thomas? , Laurie, Quinlan, The Sydney coach, Osborne, Pert etc.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Yeah, was at that match actually - with my old man - remember that day as one of the few times I ever saw us win at Collingwood. Freezing cold day - p1ssed down with rain in the first half - sun came out in third quarter (but it stayed freezing) and we just kept managing to keep our noses in front. Remember Greg McAdam for us that day too.
But you're wrong about one thing - we beat the 'Dogs in a massive boilover in round 22 that year at Moorabbin. Kicked 7 goals in the last quarter to come from behind and beat them despite them finishing second that year.
