No one listens to me at home
So this is my only outlet. Makes me feel important. Maybe it's because I'm lonely... maybe because I have a small pen1s... maybe because I'm bald... maybe all of the above.
I checked myself in to SFA's (Sainters Forumaholics Anonymous), but fell off the wagon after GT was sacked.
As a kid I was always the one being labelled as a "distraction" to other students with my constant talking.
Many of my comments have little substance, coz I reply and comment on other's comments... which is what a forum is about the last time I checked.
Actually, I have my own business with clients in the USA, so my days are usually free to do as I wish
Anything else I missed? Let me know if I did Bob. Good to see the Thought Police are out there protecting the innocent posters.
Why the number of people's posts should bother anyone is beyond me.
The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

But I'm not bald. and I have no idea of "size" owing to an expanding waist line. to the best of my knowledge it is still there and moderately functional.
And I look forward to seeing him in our colours. Or Sandy's.
Why would you look forward to seeing your penis in Saints or Sandy colours.cowboy18 wrote: X2

Lance or James??

I don't want him.
He is an embarassment.
He contradicts our values.
He is trouble.
It will all end in a blaze of negative publicity,
followed by a major implosion.
And deep down - you know this is right.

Apparently, that's why he's in favour of the new clash jumper... where the white section expands. Think about it...joffaboy wrote:Why would you look forward to seeing your penis in Saints or Sandy colours.cowboy18 wrote: X2

Only for Cousins not for the team who picks him up.Enrico_Misso wrote: It will all end in a blaze of negative publicity,

Really, it will have nothing to do with the club. They will be seen as the ones who gave him a go and did the right thing by cutting him loose.

Misso ain't happy, and good luck to him, that's his right. On the other hand, f*** him. If Banger reckons BC could play with us until he's 35, and help us to a flag, BRING THE F****** fella on.
This is extraordinarily simple. Corral him properly early, give him a chance, and watch him prosper. Forget the rest of the BS, have we got faith in our own chiefs? I have, bring THIS on.
This will work. Excellent.

I've never met Ben Cousins. I don't particularly like his persona as depicted in the media, but that may not be the true person. I suspect I'll never know what sort of man he really his.
What I do know is he's already paid a heavy price (in actual dollars) for his problems, and a similar penalty in loss of respect and image. He would have dropped a fortune over being deregistered for 2008; a far greater penalty than any of those players who have actually tested positive twice. He claims to be working on his rehabilitation, and that part of that process is to resume playing footy. Will he transgress again? Who knows. He may well do. He may not. But IMO he deserves an opportunity to resume his professional life. Everyone should get a second chance after a major mistake.
But no-one should get a third chance, so Benny boy, I'd welcome you to our club, and support you to the hilt in your efforts to stay sober and play footy. But if you fall off the wagon again then we'll drop you quicker than you can blink.

True, but I have to admit that my only fear is if he comes back and stars, then it goes ugly.joffaboy wrote:Only for Cousins not for the team who picks him up.Enrico_Misso wrote: It will all end in a blaze of negative publicity,

It would be like losing Roo for the season with an injury. A real spanner in the works as far as planning goes.

You're probably right in that most of us deep down have a feeling this will go pear-shaped.Enrico_Misso wrote:It will all end in a blaze of negative publicity,

However, we're St Kilda supporters, we'd be feeling that way anyway even if Ben never sets foot in the place. It’s in our blood.
TBH, I'm somewhat surprised how supportive I am of Ben coming to St Kilda. I don't personally like the bloke and I have had serious doubts about the whole addiction story from the start. The doubt not being he's a user, more so the extent of the addiction and whether the addiction is to the lifestyle more so than a particular drug. I also have serious doubts about Ben keeping his nose clean going forward (pardon the pun). Despite all those doubts I still want him to play for St Kilda.
Am I nuts? Probably, but I don't think that adequately explains why so many are also in support of this move.
To me it's simple. He's a f***ing good footballer, I mean seriously good. I think anyone that remembers his last performance against us salivates at the prospect of even half a dozen of those type performances in red, white & black. Just imagine, one of those performances in a PF could be the difference between that sinking feeling that we've become accustomed to of late, or actually going to the big dance feeling like we’re a genuine chance.
He might be a f/wit, he might prove to let us down like he has many in the past, but we know given the opportunity on the big stage to thumb his nose at the wider AFL world, the smug little prick will do it and with a premiership medal around his neck (& probably a Norm Smith).
We don’t fear negative publicity, we don’t fear implosions, we expect them.
What we fear is watching yet another episode of “good guys don’t finish firstâ€

When he dissed Banger at the end of a game in Perth a few years back, I nearly put my fist through the telly. This year I find out that he rang Banger a couple of days later and apologised vehemently for the act, spent a long time on the phone with de man, and de man gave him real credit for the call. This had much to do with Robert's recent opinion that Cousins could play until he's 35. I've always valued Robert's opinions and continue to do so.
Let there be no doubt, Cousins is a screaming narcissist. His behaviour screams reflection lover. But, narcissists can function, in the right environment. They need structure and reason.
When I heard Lyon talk about his discussions with the skipper, how Nick had been given a mandate to discuss the Cousins possibility with the players and bring back their opinions, I thought "good step". When I heard Lyon talk about Nick's relaying of the players positive responses to the possibility, I thought "good step".
When I then heard Lyon talk about his faith in Nick and the leaders, but particularly Nick, to make the right call about an issue like recruiting Cousins, I thought "good step".
But, when Lyon went on to talk about Nick's status as a fella with values and principles that set him in the top echelon of leaders in the AFL, I thought more than "good step" - I thought this is an article of faith and it's now a done deal.
The issue boneheads like Patrick Smith don't get is precisely leadership. It seems to me blokes like Lyon don't practice tokenism - if they say they trust their leaders, they actually do.
Lyon has spoken effusively about his respect for his leaders. Hey, I think he actually does. So, if the players reckon they will welcome Cousins, and do all that is necessary to help him contribute to the side's performance, then, like Lyon, I'll trust 'em, and support them, in getting a result.
Have no doubt, the AFL, with drug testing results in hand, told most clubs to not even think about drafting Cousins. They gave us no such message, and know we are the best placed club to make this work. Nixon even went to the AFL and lauded some of the stuff we proposed for Cousin's comeback as ideas that noone else had even suggested.
We have quality people leading us, on and off the field. I'm happy for that leadership to invite a very talented, but flawed individual, to have another, redeeming crack at something that he is very good at, and needs. The best support for a risky decision is mutual benefit. It lives right here.
We can make this work. We have the right people to make it work. And I want a high half forward who can hit packs going and kicks goals. Bring it on.
