10 % roughly of 11,500 don't take up their S/C Final allocation
leaving about 1,000 spots.....

it was not as widely offered this year but follow up of last years September saints to a level that they can cover with possible tickets...
But in the email from the club, they said that the chance of a September Saint recieving a ticket is 10-15%
Which email was that in Gill, i couldn't find it. I'd be pretty suprised if we only had a 1 in 10 chance of getting a ticket, but would also be suprised if there was 1000 september saints and 1,000 tickets left after SC uptake.
All we can do is register and hope we are lucky :)
I emailed the club myself to try to find out what my chances were.
Maybe some others could email them and see what response they get:

membership@saints.com.au
I'm pretty sure that's the address.

That could be right. But that would mean that if there's on 1000 September Saints, just about everyone will get a ticket!

"Hi Michael,

This season we had just over 1000 September Saint members register. Going on the figures from last year, we expect to have between 12-15% of those members receive grand final tickets through the ballot.

If I could be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Rhy

I'm guessing that would be their aim

and the e-mail could be taken both ways,,,,, and I'm/ we're taking it that those 1,000 or so- are the total of september saints- and does not include any from last year-- but a completely new list

as said above though- we'll all just keep ourfingers and toes crossed that 1 the team get into the finals and 2 that we get seats.

if you dont tick standing and thats all thats left you get squat

if you do a group booking of 10 and only 7 seats are left and you havent ticked standing you get squat

large bookings get no pref, why should they?
if that would be the case everyone would form a group lol

i get one ticket therefore probability would say i have more chance of getting a seat compared to a family of 4 or a group of ten

you reg, you get picked out of the hat if you chose accept all tickets when you registered your number and there is no prem left you go to prime if theres ten of you and theres only 4 prime tickets left then you go to standard etc etc

there is no favors for longer members, groups, age, etc
its the luck of the draw and how big a risk you want to take accepting standing room...or not

edit
and at anytime the afl can decide to drop the number of allocated tickets to each team (12500 each) so they can incorporate more corporate packages/seats and thus increasing the standing room numbers for members like us
say out of the 12500, 500 of they were standing...well if they want they can make the standing go to 1000 therefore decrease actual seats avl to members from 12000, to 11500....if they wanted to
Where did you get that info from, Matrix?

You can't book in a group of 10.

Since 1997, it has been a group of 8. The registration form clearly states 8.

Who said that it is random? Never heard that.

I booked with one friend last year just to make sure and another group booked a group of 8. We both got Premium seats.

This year I'm trying a group of 7. Like Maxstar I don't care where I am, and if I have to stand, so be it. However I certainly hope as a member in the first thousand at the club and a social club member for a very long time, that I can sit down. Just don't rain.

The maths doesn't make sense!

If there are 1,000 Sept Saints but only 12%-15% will get a ticket.
Then that implies that the take-up rate of the 11,500 SC members is 98.96% to 98.695% respectively.

That is an outrageously improbable take-up rate.

A 92% take-up rate would leave 920 tickets left for 1,000 Sept Saints.

Perhaps he meant 12%-15% of Sept Saints will miss out.
eg if 92.4% of SC members take up the offer then that leaves 874 tickets for Sept Saints which means 12.6% miss out.

???

: I felt lucky to get prime last year but level 1

re the random
Please be aware that by selecting this option, you are nominating to forfeit your Grand Final ticket if during the random allocation process you are selected for a standing room ticket,. At no point are you guaranteed a seat and should the random ticket allocation process allocate you a Standing Room ticket then by choosing this option will not be sucessfull in securing your entry into the AFL Toyota Grandfinal. All ticket allocations are random and are conducted by the AFL and not by the St Kilda Football Club.

Logic.

At some point during the ballot there will be no more groups of eight seats available. If you have registered for eight tickets and your registration is not drawn before then, you will get standing room or nothing. Therefore you have an increased chance of getting seats with a smaller group.

An LOGICALLY, that point should be when there are 7 seats left...
They are allocating the seats from front to back, bay by bay, so once they get to the last row of seats, if you are asking for more than they have, you are out of luck. Called Ticketek today to clarify how the tickets are actually allocated. They still can't conform how many SEATS the AFL is letting them allocate to club members though...
The inference I am drawing is that you are going to have to be the 10,001th or so ticket sold to miss out on a seat with an 8 person booking.
Anyone think this sounds right?

My understanding is that they won't split a group registration. So there could be, say, 2,000 seats left but only in groups smaller than eight. Since they draw the registrations randomly, if you have registered for eight tickets you could end up with standing room when a group of seven (or four, or one) would get seats.

If having to stand for the whole match is better than not going, take option A.

And my understanding is that there are no "groups of 7" (or four, or one), just 2,000 seats left. Why would they need to split a group registration if there are 2,000 seats left, and they are selling them front-to-back, one aisle to the other?
Let's not confuse the use of the term RANDOMLY. They are selecting registrations to assign seats to randomly, but they are not assigning people seats in a random location in the stadium.

At some point during the allocation of seats there will be no more groups of eight seats together. To say this will happen before all the seats run out is not a stretch.

Nobody knows how many seats remain at this point. Whether it's ten or a thousand, there is no doubt that smaller groups have an increased chance of getting the remaining seats.

I still don't know what to do with our group of 7 and the mobility option. Do I register the mobility barcodes separately than the other barcodes meaning we will be separated? I rang yesterday but couldn't get a sensible answer, suppose I will find out after 8am.

No...lets not frighten people without due cause eh??

The random part is the order each application is plucked from the "pool". Where they are seated is very un-random. They start at the best Premium bay, fill it, then move to the next bay etc etc. Thats why you need to be prepared to play top dollar depending on what order your appication is "drawn"

Its not some random scattergun seating, where people are blindly seated randomnly all over the area allocated to us. Row by row, bay by bay, each area is FILLED befeore moving on. If theres 2 spare seats at the end of a row, the next application with 2 tickets fills those seats in, so on and so on.

God I hope we win on Saturday week and make it. Hope we get seats.
Picked the accept any ticket option. Can't take the risk of not being there.

Priority one/two refers to the type of membership you have - ie SC or Sept Saint. SC is priority one registration time is 8-3. Not sure about Sept saint.

Then once in there, the three options present - ie Accept best available ticket (including standing), OR, Accept best available seat (but if your registration comes up when no seats are left then you miss out), or the third option mobility.
I picked the first option as I don't want to risk not being there. At least now we understand the process a bit better based on some of the posts above and these seem to confirm the info I have heard too. As SC , to miss out on a seat you would be in the last 1000 or so pulled out. I know that happened to quite a lot of people last year. I am not prepared to take the risk of my ballot being one of the last to come out and then missing out all together. The club have made it very clear this year.

Priority 1 - any ticket including standing room
