I'm not sure about that, unless it's to get hold of his intellectual property.SaintSimmo wrote:I reckon a few clubs might be interested in eddy
Look no offence to the guy. But if Eddy had played for someone else and had played at the same level and been delisted, would anyone here be working themselves into a lather in the hope we snaffled him in the Draft?
Well said, sad for them both.dcstkfc wrote:I think with Miles it was a matter of us having an abundance of running defenders who can't really play KP- Dempster, Gilbert, Geary, Gwilt.Thinline wrote:Miles is a surprise. Perhaps his injury proneness has left something chronic?
I thought he showed a bit when given a chance last season...
Eddy. Well. He played a couple of GFs. More than most'll ever achieve.
Miles was stiff, his best footy came during 09 when he couldn't crack the side.
As for Eddy, he always had a massive crack, and he sort of embodied Lyon's ability to get the most out of guys with limited ability.
But with Steven and Armitage coming through, something had to give, and it was Eddy.
Very appreciative of all their respective efforts at the Saints.

Eddy - seems a little stiff but obviously Geary, McQualter, and perhaps a couple unseen rate higher.
Miles - interesting as was a bit of a fan. We do not know about things like off field attitude, training etc etc so hard to jump to conclussions. Gave us speedwhich we clearly lack outside so must be more to it than that. Mature age rookie for either?

Some may poo poo the idea but the possibility of promoting Tommy Walsh, or at least leaving space to promote him, will be given serious consideration IMO.borderbarry wrote:No chance of another rookie promotion, 5 picks in the National and Rookie drafts? Maybe club impressed with Tom's effort for Ireland.

My god I hope this is not the case!!!!!Saints94 wrote:Most likely going to be Chris Johnson from the Blues, nice left footer, outside runner that could release Grammy or Gilbert.Saintersss wrote:Reckon there is a very good chance we have our eye on a delisted player or mature age player to get with our last picks.

Given he does have such good foot skills, and it's something we are clearly lacking. He has been accused at times of being a little soft, but nothing a bit of St Kilda culture can't fix surely?
What about him makes you hope it's not the case ILH?

I have quite a few Melbourne Supporter mates who have been piping on for years how much he butchers the ball. I'm not sure where this myth of good foot skills come from. IMO he is a very soft outside defender which I believe we don't need anymore of. And the question must be asked why could this guy not get a game at Carlton?SainterK wrote:Curious, but why not?IluvHarvey wrote:My god I hope this is not the case!!!!!Saints94 wrote:Most likely going to be Chris Johnson from the Blues, nice left footer, outside runner that could release Grammy or Gilbert.Saintersss wrote:Reckon there is a very good chance we have our eye on a delisted player or mature age player to get with our last picks.

We want loyalty out of our players and then we delist a guy who played in the last 2 GF"s and played the second one with a broken arm. We can argue whether he is or isnt good enough but we have 6 picks. Surely 5 was enough. Ball goes and he is a prick. We delist a player who happens to try harder than many others and yes has limited ability but that seems ok by the club. Yes the game isnt about individual players but sometimes a little loyalty both ways would be nice. As for Miles, well he was given plenty of chances so that is just bad luck.
The Carlton supporters I spoke to were surprised at his delisting, and thought that he was showing signs of improvement and thought he could of been played in the midfield.
Not sure about how the footskills myth surfaced, just everyone I asked said he is good by foot.
Perhaps Harvey has an input?
Perhaps we aren't even looking at him.

I reckon his dad Alan would have Chris covered.SainterK wrote:The Carlton supporters I spoke to were surprised at his delisting, and thought that he was showing signs of improvement and thought he could of been played in the midfield.

A recent change to the mature age rookie rule now allows all rookies to be of any age over 18.ace wrote:Eddy is eligible to be normal age rookie listed if selected by 7 days.

That is there is no upper age restrictions at all on rookies.

Well I definitely wouldn't have picked either of these. Eddy is incredibly committed and tough but he's not a footballer; good hard decision from the club. Miles' debut was the best I've seen from a saint in years and he looked like he had attributes that our other players didn't (pace, confidence, good spoiling). Very surprised at his delisting, seemed much more valuable than 5 or 6 players who have been retained.
To me this says that the club has eyes on 2-4 recycled players (perhaps 1 or 2 senior spots and a couple of rookies). Probably to come out of Sheldon, Johnson, Bruce, Campbell, Johnstone, Proud, Hahn and maybe even Anthony.

The guy has had 3 years to get a game. He is also mature age so should be more developed more than he has shown. 2 games at the end of the year when there was absolutely no pressure in the games means nothing. Not even slightly surprised. Was more surprised when people kept mentioning him as a very good chance to improve our side next year.dragit wrote:I don't understand the Miles one…
We are desperate for pace so we delist the quickest bloke on the list,
He didn't really get a chance to prove himself either way,
2 decent games,
Cahill, Johnson & Simpkin have done less IMO
damn it.

Think player wants more opportunities &/or money.dragit wrote:I don't understand the Miles one…

Think player can be redrafted if no-one else takes him.
Think intrigue.
Think Collingwood getting in the ear of out of contract players at rival contender clubs.
