runs like the wind, has a couple of bounces
isnt that run and carry?
Depends on where he's running from and where he's running too. His may be from the forward pocket to the goal square.
And at this early stage of his career young Ahmed is, unfortunately, being caught a few times. No doubt he'll get better with time.
However the run and carry we're looking for is probably run and carry from the back half through the midfield.
That is my point.
To me run and carry is when a player gets the ball from outside the 50 (whether it be deep in defence or what not) and runs a prolonged period. Not just one bounce into the goal.

It can also refer to a Collingwood supporter leaving the scene of a home burglary
watching the drawn GF a couple of weeks ago Gilbert showed his worth in that game. He just has an ability to drive the ball forward under pressure. It is great to grab the ball off the ground cleanly and run away from the opposition taking casual bounces but in modern footy you don't get space. Gilbert has a knack for getting the ball moving forward through traffic that's why he gets picked every week, he's an offensive back rather than a defensive forward. He's size and speed make him really valuable as he can stand up in tackles and once moving can use momentum to break away. He has his faults but he's an important player.
