Why's this so hard to fathom?

It's been going to happen for 6 weeks.

Because it would have got out for sure and there is no way pelchan would say that. It wasnt 100% certain for a start. Anyway the point still is that it isnt just senior players who were unhappy with SW and they have been unfairly labelled. It sounds like it was nearly the whole club.

I never ever heard anyone on the radio say SW will be sacked this year or never saw it written anywhere. You do realise Joey couldnt have gone even if he wanted to.

Okay K, you think the players are running the club...

Maybe they saw what everyone else saw in Watters - a dud.

Joey is a sook, is sulking, is me me me, wanted to leave... You clearly love the bloke.

When have you seen or heard from him since the season ended?

As I said on another thread, bet I can guess those who wouldn't work with Scott moving forward.

Maxy, Hamill, Bourke, Thompson?

Meh.

Ross had closed slatted blinds and scared admin staff.

Same old article comes our when someone leaves.

Damage control.

SW was read the riot act recently: His role redefined and was counselled and instructed on how he need to interact with EVERYONE...players, bootstudder, assistants, and other staff.

He FAILED to change is behaviour in any way.

Not all surprisingly, as in any normal organisation, when an employee fails to follow advice and instruction he was terminated.

The villain here is not the players who did not get on with him (which incidently seems to be the entire playing group and ex-players like Peake), not the assistants, nit his boss Pelchen, not the board......but SW who quite simply cannot work with people, and also very importantly fora coach has now ability to LED people.

Dictators make very poor coaches.

While SEN radio interview was AFTER the decision to sack him (though SW did not yet know) it was symptomatic of Watter's delusion that he was perfect in every way and had no need to alter his performance and behaviour.

LISTEN to what players say about Lyon. They all rate him as a coach.

None of the players, current or ex rate SW.

I heard and read people saying Watters wouldn't survive until the start of the 2014 season.

Damien Barrett was adamant Watters was gone, only a matter of when, he got that right.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I don't get this line of thought... Nothing to suggest players running the club in the slightest... If anything it has been so politically back-room that the players seemingly didn't know if they were coming or going..

It's a bit of an insult IMO to tarnish leaders like Roo, Joey etc as blokes with agenda's and willing to mutiny in spite of their club... I guarantee you those blokes love this StKFC more than Scott Watters does, and have done a lot more for the club than he ever did...

They may be uneasy about their opportunity being missed, but I do not for one second think they would obviously hold the club to ransom for their own selfish needs.. Kosi did the exact opposite this past season, happily playing VFL and mentoring the young ones, and I feel they are all cut from a similar cloth..

Interestingly, I'd like to know if Geary is one of the accused 'running' the club; he is in the leadership group, isn't he?

No.

You're right sobraz.

The club is never wrong, it's always someone else's fault.

Players had nothing to do with it.

Everything's perfect.

To be fair, I've been saying we needed a new voice and direction for a couple of years now.

When Milne was omitted, we found out who was running the club.

I don't blame them really, they got treated like gods by Ross, not sure you'll get that out of them now. We're not going to find Ross v2 though.

Do you believe the Saad v Lions story, which I had no idea about until yesterday, and what does it tell you about Watters' methods??...

For me, if it is true as I have no reason to doubt, his position was untenable from that point...

This is not a pissing contest about backing the club and never questioning anything... If 99% of players on the list, as well as the majority of the off field crew, don't rate the coach, well maybe they are all right and he has to go... Im not saying that was the case with Watters, I don't know anything about what goes on, but if the players did play a part, what of it? They are an integral past of the team, and need to be considered...

I don't imagine Ross treating any player like a 'god' to be honest... not sure where you got that idea?

He seemed to have a close working relationship with senior players, they seem to respect him. Adoration though, I'm not sure is a Ross Lyon trait.

I have come around to thinking the club must have had some VERY major concerns as they are paying out his contract, losing face and making their decision making look poor.

If the players were put out by Scott I doubt it would have been enough if it was just a few seniors.

I heard Jack Steven say he was very happy with Watters earlier in the year and I'm sure Armo and Rhys were pretty happy with their new positions in the club- both starting mids these days after missing years of opportunity.

There must have been some very serious concerns over the direction we were being sent in and I don't think it was a performance based issue as I think they were aware of the list status.

He is pretty enigmatic though Watters. He was at his kids footy match on the day of a 2.10 match and still there at about 11.30. A few Saints parents were a bit flabbergasted at that and he'd just been saying a bit about work life balance in footy at the time. Yet he seems to have had some control freak tendencies.

Ross Lyon had the work ethic that he expected of everyone else around him but despite appearances seems to have had a great rapport with his players. I guess we never know the reality of the people in control but you have to trust the people in charge to make the appropriate decisions.

Id say lyon treated them well when they were winning and was hard ass when they were losing.

Trouble is now our players are losing a lot they still want to be treated like they are winning.
