I have to say the oval looks huge! Is it just the camera angle or is it a big ground?
I think the ground dimensions are equal to the largest ground in the league or maybe in Victoria.

Great to hear young inclusions Templeton and Billings got throught their 1st. hitout. Eli does sound impressive especially with attitude. If a few more can step up the attitude and close the gap on J.Steven; Geary & Armo we could be cooking along nicely. Eli sounds exciting already don't even know what he looks like but hoping he stays fit and hungry and you never know.
Reports also sound positive reg: J.Newness - hope he keeps going.

Thankyou for the reports and pics much appreciated.

Purposely the same dimensions as the MCG, Stevie... so that the players will all know in advance how to pace themselves on the GF victory lap. 8-)

More than 1,500 St Kilda supporters braved sweltering hot conditions at Linen House Centre on Saturday morning to watch the Saints in the annual intra-club practice match.

The mercury rose to over the 36 degrees but it didn’t stop the Saints from putting on a show with fans treated to a great performance from new recruits, including St Kilda’s first draft pick Jack Billings.

“It was a good to see so many supporters out there cheering us on, especially so early in the year and being so hot it was great to see,” Billings said.

“It’s so good for the players especially because it really drives the players on the field.”

I watched a few bits up on line and Holmes looks like he's still finding out how to play but he pinched the ball a few times and rucked okay. He's a worthy inclusion. He shows more than Tommy gun already IMO and is more likely to make the AFL standard as a ruck man.

Stanley with ice on the thigh. Ice on the head would have been fair enough in the heat but not on the thigh. Precautionary? Did he finish the game out?

Great day (morning out )
Who won the Raffle?? :)

The down side
There was some D nose reporter at the ground who took about 15 takes to say 20 words, threw his tie off onto the fence amongst the supporters as if he owned the ground. They had one of the saints kids (supporter) holding up a dish which was almost as big as him so he could get a reflection on his face. I'm tipping they didn't even buy him an ice-cream.
All for a report about how we've cut funding to our football department, nothing positive
Had the kids not of been with me, I would of ensured a few more takes.

just saw that report on ch 7- atleast he had to carry the tripod for the camera - with suit coat on... around the ground- but must have found the cherry picker for his report--- and correct- all the negative.......

Armitage was great IMO .... Easily the stand out

Savage ran hard and was quite classy

Maister and Rhys were good targets... Ruckmen were promising

Curran and Saunders look ripping fit, and would be with Jones, Geary, Steven, Dempster and Savage as the clubs fittest.

Adam Cockie won plenty of hard clearances will be great support for the kids at Sandy....

Newnes and Ross will both go up a notch this year... Newnes top ten, Ross in the best 21

Shenton, Dunnell, Roberton... Were ok across HB...

Templeton very hard runner, quick of mind and foot. He looks very likely, as does JB and Acres. Dunstan is mature, but is a tractor... Massive thighs and makes Armo look nimble IMO. But it could've been the heat draining energy levels of the boy.

Weller will be a good depth addition... He is ready made, so if a good Mid goes down he'll step in

I think we have 10 easily AFL standard players and throw a blanket over the next twenty.... We need half of those to transition to become easily AFL standard

How did our tall defenders go? Seeing as though this is apparently our biggest deficiency. How did Bruce and Delaney go?

IMHO

Delaney = answer for gorillas but just serviceable ... looked good in patches

Bruce = a work in progress. Looks to have skills but not the answer on resting rucks! Would love to see his work as a forward.

Agree with most of this but:

- Roberton was very good
- Dunstan started tagging Jack Steven ... a learning curve
- Maister takes some great grabs but still dropping some certs
- TDL looked a lively small forward

Overall our set shots for goal were SHOCKING! Issue is they try to kick the ball through the posts which is an amateur mistake - you must kick to something in particular behind the goal ... improves accuracy from 50 / 50 to as good as 70 / 30 if you are a decent kick.

Good point BFUSA, it's what Peter Hudson was teaching the Forwards back when Sheldon was coach, before the Saints hierarchy of the day decided Sheldon/Hudson had too much control and threw a spanner in the works. Hudson left the Saints not long after. I think the Saints hierarchy of the day were worried Sheldon/Hudson were going to be successful without their input and they couldn't handle it .

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.
