Stevic is a Hawkes fan and has got them up in three prelim finals in a row.
As someone posted on BF, we need to look at drafting Stevic and Margetts, worth at least 5 goals each for their teams on the weekend.

Would probably cost #5 and Billings though

In Feb a poster on Bigfooty started a thread on Stevic and if he'd get the Hawkes in another GF. This is three years in a row the same umpire has been responsible for disgraceful umpiring all the Hawkes way in prelims.

Worst decision of the night was the free to Waite for throwing himself into the fence. But I guess that doesn't fit everyone's theory so I won't mention it.

So it was worse than the two non existent frees Margetts paid for WCE goals and then ignored the trip to North in front of goals.

The Waite one was there. He emphasised it but was taken over the line illegally.

Nothing in the Waite free. Wellingham did what happens 50 times in a game without it being a free.

The Waite ones that most come to mind were in the first quarter when only 30m out he marked a 20m pass and the ump called play on because it was "not 15 metres". (Later in the game an Eagle marked a 10m chip inside 50 that was deemed ok).
Waite also should have had another shot at goal in the first quarter when the ball was out on the full but incorrectly called.

I think those decisions had a "little" more impact than a boundary free 70m away from goal!

I thought it looked legit, its always been a free for shoving into the fence. It looked stupidly overly aggressive.

the fact is it was about 9 to 18 last time I checked ion the final quarter and the let WCE throw the ball with out handling and several pushes in the back weren't paid. Extremely poor umpiring for a prelim.

Didn't see the match....... read in the paper this morning Brad Scott.s comment:

"It's the rub of the green stuff", Scott said of the Eagles winning the free kick count 23-18. "You play an interstate preliminary final, the crowd was fantastic tonight. I thought they generated a superb atmosphere and it makes it really tough for the people that are charged with adjudicating the game". Interesting point at the end of his quote, can't get himself in trouble for a veiled swipe at umpires!!!!!!!!

WCE played better footy than the Roos who went too big in their forward line, and then went defensive as the game went on. Umps probably gifted WCE a goal at least, but not a win.

Accurate description of the game IMO

I think it's pretty damn close to them gifting a win. Two 1 goal turnarounds in 24 points, the margin was 25. Not to mention footy is very much a game of momentum and the umps killed any the Roos had in that 2nd quarter. It atleast would have been down to the siren if it was equal umpiring.

The trip no call and the free against Tarrant which wasn't there which ended in a goal at the other end. just a couple of correct calls and the game was even, without looking at all the other bull that went on. don't know how many tackles I saw with a Roos player in an actual headlock.

Seen a lot of our games in recent years where we got plenty of charity frees and either won or lost...it means nothing. The better team usually wins a game
