Or

He plays that position because he doesn't find the ball

Which arguments fits?

Here's a hint..

He didn't find a great deal of the ball in the VFL as a small fwd either... Transitioned into the midfield and makes Saunders, Murdoch, Templeton, Curren look average in comparison

His numbers... In particular tackling numbers were enormous

Who? Have you ever thought of quoting or at least mentioning the player you are talking about. Also thanks for the hint. Its a pity we don't know who the hint is for or who the player is.

Last player mentioned was Jade Gresham or Lewis Taylor. I will go with Jade seeing he is ours. Cant comment. Havent seen him play but you could be right.

Actually he's right. Just name the player and we'll know wtf you're on about. Just the first name will do in most cases.

I don't even get alerting the mods. Only ever reported one post and that was when someone had a go at my other footy club. Still have no idea who you are talking about. Just a simple question. Why not quote or at least say a name. Surely it isn't that hard. As for having nothing else well you are right. I know nothing about Gresham. You obviously do so you win if that's what you want. I'm still waiting to find out why I know nothing about drafting as you previously said.

He's referring to one of the Minchingtons - it's pretty obvious.
Jack (Darren) Minchington, my guess? :?

I couldn't see it but I only went back 3 or 4 posts. Who is the other Minchington?

Wow

Someone could work it out

I'd suggest he is a genius... Possibly is??? But I'm not sure it was that difficult to work out??

Well maybe for some??

Or is it just an 'act dumb' to make an irrelevent point?

Yes, you need to spell things out to unintelligent people.

I know I have to repeat everything a person says to me before I respond and also make sure I don't ask them to have to make any inferences in case it tests their intelligence too much...

I agree

Of course many run poor TT and many run good TT but most mids run good TT and certainly those in their 4th year of footy when your issue previously was endurance.

Everything you say is correct but in AFL footy Minch hasn't found the ball yet so he needs to work on a well known weakness so he gets more of a run on the ball to show he has what it takes to be a good AFL footballer and not a good VFL footballer which is really a huge grade below AFL footy.
To say he when he hardly gets a run in the middle at AFL level because he gets stuffed so quickly is strange considering he doesn't get stuffed in the middle when playing VFL - given that the ground sizes are similar I don't get it - even if the game is played at a higher tempo at AFL level (not all games mind you)

Finding the ball is not just about having a massive tank - it is also about positioning, out muscling/manouvering your direct opponent in one on one situations and reading the play

I would say he doesn't get much of run in the middle at AFL level because they are currently a few more established players playing that position

There is huge difference in the tank required to play AFL compared to VFL. Its massive. All games are a higher tempo and most are played on bigger grounds. And I cant agree he doesn't get a run in the middle because we have more established players. We are so far short of mids we would nearly be near the bottom in depth so if a player was good enough to play in the AFL in the middle for us they would get plenty of chances. I'm only going with what I see and Minch doesn't get that much of a run in the middle and there must be better reasons than we more established players ahead of him. Dunstan was in the middle in game one. Minch will be into his 5th year I think. Could be his fourth but still he has been in the system for a fair while and still hasn't got his chance. Well not a long or medium term chance.

Don't get me wrong I want Minch to make it. I want them all to make it but its a worry after a few years he hasn't found a position in the ones.

It's really not the Da Vinci Code.

Nor is it much of a mystery which player BM is referring too

And even if you're newer here and are not aware of this previous argument on quoting btw the 2 forumites involved, it's not that hard to figure out.

What aren't you following?

Probably upbringing. Basic manners are learnt at home.

Looking at Gresham at the training camp - he is short but not really that short. I dont think it is going to be a hurdle.
Looking around the comp there are a hell of a lot of very good players under 1.8m.

(note: I included Marc Murphy , Taylor Adams and Jack Steven in this group because they play 'short' and dont really take any overhead marks so their exact height is pretty irrelevant).

A Graders

Adams - 1.8
Zorko - 1.75
Taylor - 1.73
Prestia - 1.75
Devon Smith - 1.75
Impey - 1.78
Dalhaus - 1.78
M Murphy - 1.8
Steven - 1.8
K Jack - 1.78
Masten - 1.79

So really height is not an obstacle to becoming an A grade player. If he doesnt make an A grader - it will be for other reasons, not his height.

p.p.s There are plenty of others (Cyril - 1.77) etc etc etc but I am not including specialist small fwds because Gresham is a midfielder.

Height is not a problem. Skill and hardness is whats required.
