Some really good signs. That was a really high pressure match with no easy ball but Eli, White, Rice, Mckenzie, Goddard, Gresham all looked really good - getting lots of the footy. Some of the fringe players like Shenton, Murdoch ,Membrey and Holmies were really good as well. Wright was disappointing - I don't think he's got what it takes. Longer played forward a lot and worked really hard without dominating. Pierce looked lost in the first half but then competed really well in the second. He's pretty athletic for a big guy and took a couple of storng grabs - he's got potential.

Up to 3/4 time I was underwhelmed with his game apart form his tapwork.

But then wham...in that last quarter he was brilliant in heavy traffic winning repeated contested ball AND dishing out qulaity handballs to team-mates in place.

Uptill 3/4 time I was thinking that he was heading for being delisted unless kept asa cheap back up ruck. But then in that last quarter for the very first time he actually looked like a footballer.

Definitely. The two-ruck equation would be something they are still working on and if that includes Billy that means he has to be at least serviceable playing forward and increase his effectiveness around the ground - Hickey has a real edge over him in that area.

He's a bit of the forgotten man but was great today. My worry with him is like with Eli - what is the weapon he has that he can take into the AFL? The players who make it AFL level have some real weapons that makes them dangerous. Just being a good all round player isn't enough these days.
