Well I was roundly abused on here when I said it was crazy using a top 3 pick on a rich white kid from Kew who went to Scotch.
But I stand by this. I'd have gone that kid from the remote wa farm who loves shootin pigs - Patrick Cripps - any day of the week. And Id make the same decision now.

OK, so there is a problem with him. I get that. I saw it tonight and I've seen it a few times from him (and from some of his team mates like Savage). Hell, one of our best on grounnd tonight and one of our most experienced has built a pretty fair career and he still baulks at a few contests or absolutely stuffs up when it comes to the hard stuff and tackling...

So what is the solution? Do you work with his strengths and try and improve him slowly or do you try and change him completely? What's the solution? In the old days the coaches would bring out the boxing gloves at training wouldn't they?

Perhaps a change of position. Maybe give him a run in Joey's role. Would give him a chance to build some confidence.

I'm really not sure he's 100% fit.

Give him a rest and get him back for a monster pre-season.

He oozes class. He really does. Just needs some confidence and to get his body right for next year.

I have no problem with a young player being outside. But his much vaunted kicking isnt even that flash. Has kicked 5.12 this season and was fluffing his passes on the rare time he got the ball. That is what frustrates me the most. I dont want him to be the toughest bloke out there. But at least hit your basic lead up targets.

Inconsistent...

I can live with that for now.

Has been injured and is now stringing games together... Up and down like our team

Trust in the kid. The leaders and his coaches need to keep trusting in him and in the team. He will find consistency if he wants to work hard enough and I have faith that he can do it. He has the motivation. He has the ability so from this point on it's all about his desire and the clubs desire to work with ALL our youth.

Con you have lost the plot - WTF has a rich white kid from Kew who went to Scotch got to do with it. I would suggest there have been plenty of A graders with the same pedigree. (not necessarily from Kew) You are usually quite measured in your opinions - I hope it's that you are just a tad emotional and disappointed with our 2nd half.

Chris Judd Caulfield Grammar)
Christian Petracca - family very well off from Donvale - will be a beast.
Luke Ball - tough as nails Xavier boy
Jobe Watson

The list goes on - Bit like saying that the wild farm boy who shoots pigs who is as tough as nails has terrible skills, alah Ronnie Andrews.

If that's the case then why play him. Can't carry players anymore or you will be found out.

Bought into his own pre-draft hype.

Outside player right now. Has to grow a pair.

Will that happen? Time will tell.

He's not a work horse - he is the cream on top. Lenny was a bit similar in his first few years, and then it all came together very quickly. He has a whole pre-season to work on it.

Next years second and billings for hurley

Just get it done.

Billings has a nice kick but is from Kew will never be tough enough for a flag. Besides I reckon he wants to go to bombers. Let him go.
Get gulluci or taranto a kid with more balls to take his place.
Get fyfe or dusty next year and we'll be a great team.

Actually, in a 2013 pre draft thread on Scharenburg you said;

"Billings looks awesome.
Looks like a marc murphy to me (not as big or tough as stevie j)
I think billings is a mid who played fwd in 2013 only because he had bursitis

Still reckon Scharenberg slightly ahead though....

Ill be happy with either but if Scharenberg slips to pick 5 or 6 someone will get a gun. He could easily be number 1."

Barely sighted on the ground either.

I'm concerned.

Will never be a midfielder. Too slow & can't win the contested ball. Relies heavily on others to get the ball to him. Best case scenario he ends up a Mark Lecras type half forward or Brent Guera small half back that can set up play.

In my honest opinion, he's expendable. He's not a mid or a key back & they are our weakest areas on the field. I'd part ways with Billings if it meant getting a talented mid (Prestia) or key back (Hurley). Trade this year when his value is still strong cos in 12 months time we'll be lucky to get a top 30 pick for him.

Needs to do a lot of work on his tank, and win more of the hard ball. Probably a bit over-rated by some.

Richo's using him like a workhorse. He's a Ferrari but Richo is driving him like a beat Holen gemini wanting him to bash and crash into all the other cars.

I have never been a Billings fan.

I simply dont believe Billings will ever become a midfielder the kid just doesnt have the body or ticker for it. Could be the Saints next Fiora (another pick 3) a lovely left foot kick but plays like a scared albino rabbit.

Would rather Templeton at least he can win his own ball and plays with some aggression.

There has been suggestions that he may be traded?
