Yep, this argument Longer vs Hickey debate has now been going for donkeys years. Hickey is clearly the better player, yet the selection panel still can't decide on which ruckman to go for. The good news is Billy's contract will run out at the end of the season. I cannot imagine it being renewed. Meanwhile, what is going on with Lewis Pierce?

I'm not going to get into the ruck dispute, other than to say that our next premiership ruckman probably isn't at our club yet (or even born) but Port's 3rd or 4th option would have beaten us on Saturday. FFS we didn't have an option to cover their 3rd or 4th option in their main positions! We are in some strife here folks

Longer actually spoiled the ball in the marking contest and Ryder stayed down & ran onto it kicking a great goal.

Really, he fell into the marking contest....

And the ball hit the ground... Then his direct opponent, now without an opponent.... Just wandered in.

I thought it was one of Billy’s better games but there were two incidents that concerned me.

In the first quarter with the ball bouncing up nicely for him he could have grabbed it and put it out in front of one of his two teammates who were ahead of their opponent on either side of him. Instead he tries to kick the ball in mid air and manages to go sideways and hit an opponent on the chest.

Second quarter in defence and Austin is doing a good job of keeping Ryder out of a marking contest so that Billy can take an easy uncontested mark. For some reason, Billy goes with one hand and the ball slips through to Pepper Pig and it ends up as a Port goal.

Billy won his fair share of hit outs last week and some even hit a player on the chest. Only trouble was they were all Port midfielders.
