We don't have depth and we don't have elite users of the ball in our midfield - and our recruiting is not addressing this area.

(Our recruiting is the area that's holding us back - we need to nail our recruiting/drafting from now on. There's a lot of catching up to do vs the teams that are nailing theirs.I mean we could've got our no.1 pick right, at least. We don't have the luxury to make these mistakes.
What do we expect - a coach that can wave his magic wand (no innuendo intended)?? No such coach exists - but good recruiters do, at other clubs).

The other thing is ...
Max King is obviously a longer-term prospect, and some of the mature players we have recruited may or may not make it - but other teams have drafted and recruited players that will have an immediate impact.
No way can we win 11 matches in 2019 Samoht. However, there is a lot of truth in what you are saying about us needing a lot of luck with injuries, and you are spot on that King is a longer-term prospect, as is Battle. I also 100% agree with you on that our mature age recruits will turn out to be a mixed bag, with some making it and some not.
We might win 8 or 9 games or around that figure, but guys like Phillips, Rice, Austin, Coffield, Clark, Battle, and Pierce must be played at the expense of the experienced guys who are not going to take us to the next level, and this will surely equate to fewer wins. If they don't develop these guys we are going to be very mediocre for a decade. And we've been mediocre for going on six or seven seasons already.
I agree, it will be hard to get to 11 wins - as each year our recruiting isn't keeping up with the teams around us.
So, each year we are falling back, relative to other teams - but hopefully we will have a lot better luck with injuries next year.
They also need to recruit the "guys" that we need -- a lot of our recruiting has not addressed our needs, and when it has (addressed them) it's been speculative - e.g., picking mature recruits who are playing at lower levels, who might or may not make it vs picking proven players, like a Dangerfield, a Dayne Beams, etc.. or a Hannebery, Freeman, Bytel hoping to get their bodies right.

Ted/Parkey is certainly a true conservative - loves the idea of free speech, as long as it’s on his or her terms.

Just read a great article in the hun on young Nick Coffield with an extra bit on two promising father son prospects training with the saints but seeing how the majority on here thinks the hun sucks and that I'm a muppet for subscribing to said paper, I guess I wont post the article here.

Why don't the Libs try something different next time and maybe try developing intelligent debate on big picture policies  :?:

Anyhow Ted. Stop being such a sad sack. If you haven't got something positive to post about this wonderful State we live in why don't you leave and go and live somewhere else :D :D

Victoria is among the fastest growing and most economically viable States. The Libs hate the fact that the ALP is smashing them when it comes to politics and they hate the fact that they are miles away from truly being as progressive as the people of this nation and of this great State.

Anyway, if your predictions for politics and the economy are as bad as your projections were for where we'd finish in 2018 we can probably expect Dan to be governing for the next 10years + and then he'll be heading to the lodge to take residence there one day

Milney and Vossy Juniors?

There'll be some talent in those two. Can't believe those two have kids old enough to play already.
I remember when Barry Lawrence and Brian Sierakwoski's sons started with us it seemed like their dads had played in the 'olden days'.

Straight out of Trotsky's personal notebook Scollop. Lol.

I haven't stated or said anything political on here. More sounds like you are desperate to just post your own thoughts from whatever side you are on. Its a footy forum pal.

Don't care much for politics anymore, but if any of us did what big ears and four eyes Andrews from the suburbs approved and knew of at the previous election we would be in jail. Fact.

Very boring cliches Ted. Christ you come across as a right dullard.

ALP aren’t communist and they work hand in glove with big business and corporate interests.

You really have NFI.

BTW. We will win about 3 games next year.

Lol. Not communist but pretty close in some areas.

Anyway, I'm tipping 8-10 wins.

You dare sledge the administration working tirelessly for your state. You clearly aren’t a “true” Victorian.

I suggest you move to another state if you don’t like your current government?

Where do you get off attacking the character of public servants who put in 60+ hours a week for your state? 😉

Eeek. I do feel a bit bad. Please buy memberships, folks.

- We have a great draw for getting wins.
- The list profile is a year older; that's going to help us.
- Better assistant coaches (regardless of what you think of the senior coach).

God, I want wins, so many bloody wins. I want momentum. And excitement.

I hope so bloody badly that I'm wrong. We really can't afford another bad year on so many fronts.

Yet the scope for improvement of the teams above on the ladder - is greater than what we have.

I mean, Adelaide (2017 GF), WB (Premiers), Port (under-performers), North (momentum club with upside) and Essendon (two years of incredible trading plus a great 22) didn't even make the eight in 2018, with Fremantle and Brisbane sure to improve as a result of age profile and home ground advantage.

So we'd not only need to improve more than the top eight, we'd need to improve against that lot, too. We're entering an era of supreme competitiveness, heightened by the fact that a superlatively talented list (GWS) and a brilliant top-six player side (Geelong) aren't locks to make the eight.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
