I caught a few minutes he and there where he talked about the influence of Ratten and the ip Brett brings to the Saints. Josh was not directly critical of Richo but I found something he said regarding some of our game style was pretty damning. Looking forward to hearing the whole podcast, however to paraphrase a few bits: "Ratts is involved in day to day training; He runs a lot of the meetings. He brings a lot of fresh ideas in terms of game plans and structures. We were behind the eight ball over the last few years because we weren't doing what a lot of other clubs were doing and we are learning to do things better for our structures and forward play"

Don't know what else to conclude but poor coaching compared to a lot of the other clubs
Good to hear re Richo and his poor coaching.

Richo seems more relaxed this year - hopefully it’s Ratten that’s running the show behind closed doors!

The issue is that we’ve made decisions regarding pay and length of contract on faulty info.

Whether Hannebury becomes greatest recruit of all time or not is irrelevant...
Success seldom comes on a foundation of luck and our strategy as of late has been far too reliant on hoping things workout rather making smart/balanced decisions to give you the best possible chance.
Do you have examples of fact to back up your claim?

C'mon man. You don't need skeptic to spell it out. You're a smart cookie aren't ya?

We've been recruiting players for many years with known issues. The failure with Freeman should have been our line in the sand moment but it wasn't and we have gambled again with Hanners.

The extra risk we took in recruiting a bloke for our #1 draft pick with a serious health concern was also NOT a balanced and smart decision when we did not consider his durability at the time he was drafted, the known issues he had with recovery that was evident in his draft year, and all other risks with said individual. For most other clubs it would have been a wake up call but with us, we just seem to push our luck each year with trying to recruit players with health concerns.

Getting 2 players with injury concerns that need development and that don't cost you much by way of reputational risk or salary cap is balanced. Paying a third guy overs who has injury concerns is NOT balanced. Saints fans could cop the youngsters being recruited in Bytel and King, but the Hanners decision is pretty much evidence that our recruiters, coaches and the admin and footy boss that supports theses guys is just hoping players come good. As skeptic said; it's a strategy based on a foundation of luck.

From the club itself

ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

Saints coach Alan Richardson told Melbourne radio station SEN on Friday morning the 28-year-old's calves and hamstrings had been giving him grief when he hit top speed, forcing the club's fitness staff to "rebuild" the former Swan to some extent.

These recent radio interviews with Richo and the players make it all crystal clear:

Head Coach: Richo is a nice bloke, everyone says so.....but headcoach material he is not. Gameday wise the guy is clueless.

Recruiting wise: The guys who call our shots are gamblers who favour the "long-shots". They in particular love the "Medical roughie". The player that has slid in value due to injury concerns.
