Traffic jams, delays, waiting time at lights etc. stop start gear changes can cause hamstring tightness. I hope the club has thought about this.

Adelaide is dead. No traffic to the ground.
They really should be at home, with their mums.

Port demonstrated last night that professional sportsmen are capable of overcoming the effects of playing a game on a crap surface in high humidity.

On the other hand, the Dogs minus the Bont (and several other first team players) are pretty ordinary. And there was even a period of the last quarter in which they looked like they still might come back, until they were stymied by several of their players becoming injured in a short period of time.

Unfortunately, the Dees are much better than the Dogs. Barring their having an off day - which is always possible - we are going to lose on Sunday, and would have done so even if we had played Port at Marvel rather than Cairns. As long as their key players are available (particularly Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, May and Lever), the Dees look to have the measure of every other team in the AFL this season. They remind me of the Lions in the early 2000s and Hawthorn in the 2010s. (Richmond are a slightly different case IMO as, even though they performed mightily and have won three premierships in four years, they never looked totally unstoppable in the way that Brisbane and Hawthorn did, and Melbourne now does.)

2, at best 2.5 premierships in 4 years. Covid Cups are far less valuable than full strength flags.

I have heard from Melbourne players in the media describe thier dispointment at not playing the GF at the MCG and missing out on the experience that brings and how they really want to win a flag at the MCG.

Fair motivation to go back-to-back, they look like they are in a sweet spot and I fear their motivation this week will be to put us back in our spot and gives us a reality check.

The 2020 flag was 100% legit and reads as one premiership.

So was Fitzroy's flag in 1916.

It counts as one premiership!
There were four teams in the league that year.
12 Rounds.
Fitzroy finished last.
And won the flag.
And will forever have 8 flags.

Pity we cannot say we only lost 4 points in Cairns.
Cos we didn't lose 2.5 points.

Make no mistake. 2020 counts!
This counts.
Cairns counts.
And we will live and die by the count.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Looking forward to tomorrow's game, a true test of where we sit, how good we are and where we need improvement. Melbourne are high in confidence, missing one, maybe two, of their best 22 and wanting to make a statement after their own underwhelming performance last week. We also need to make a statement, let's hope it's the right one and not one seeking excuses.

Let's hope the players aren't thinking about Cairns, leave that for the fans, and know what they need to do better to win close games in the future.
