The warning signs were there against Richmond, who dominated the ruck (including pushing their rucks forward where I recall at least one big grab in the goal square) and whose mid field ran us ragged, recovering from a dominant first term by St Kilda (with Riewoldt, Goddard and Gilbert forward but that evaporated as the pressure came on).
Richmond ran the ball from mid-field and defensive positions and got back to draw against us - in the transition of the ball they made us look ordinary and fustrated.
Luckily, Milne had an in-experienced player on him - unfortunately he kicked for goal as he did, but that is becoming the norm.
The comparison with Clarke would be if Lyon gives Clarke licence in the mid-field - because that is the only world in which the abilities of Milne and Clarke will go head to head and a comparison can be made.
It is what they bring to the team.
Apart from that you have Milne as described previously by the "2 goals a game so he is a champion" crowd (and Potter 00 with his 20,000 posts over 4 years - so he is putting in his potty comments at the rate of one every 2 hours, morning noon and night 24/07/365 - does he have a life? Does he work, or cook or mow the lawns, or go to cultural or artist performances or even go to games?) so there is no comparative with someone playing in our defensive 6 and having the ball run at him (and the others) as it is being run at them - outnumbered due to un-marked players aka Watson.
It is akin to comparing Lockett with Frawley.
Anyway, enough from me for now.

To The Top - we get it, you don't like Milne. Why? No-one can really figure out. Leigh Matthews once said 'not too many guys who play 200 games of AFL footy are average players.' Milney must fall into that very rare category of ordinary players who have played 200 games.
Milne has had some appallingly bad games - most of us will acknowledge that. He has also won games off his own boot - as recently as 2010, on numerous occasions. Raph has rarely if ever had games like that. Milney can be incredibly frustrating and do stupid things on the footy field, but I wouldn't be dropping him any time soon. Raph on the other hand.... Yes I have sympathy for the illness he suffers from, but that counts for zilch in my eyes when performing on a footy field. For the sake of the footy club, and Raph himself I hope he finds some confidence back in the magoos.

What I have written 20000 posts is less than you have done in 1000 and mine have more substance even when it is a one line post. Has anyone told you a lot of words doesnt mean a thing if it is the same crap which yours is. There is no debate. Comparing Raph and Milne is stupid. Milne has been a very good FP for over 200 games. Raph hasnt found a consistant position. And then I say why you can not compare disposals etc. etc. between Clarke and Milne and the only comparison would be if Clarke is played in the mid-field against the mid-field performance/s of Milne, which are abysmal.
This love affair with Milne (and a couple of others) is costing St Kilda.
The game as it is played today has passed them and the roles they play by.
And that is the reason we are struggling as we are - along with our ruck deficiency.

That is the concern - and why we need to analyse why this is happening.
Is it the absence of Gardiner and Koschitzke and now Hayes?

Or is it the role players who abound in our side - including our "specialist forward pocket"?
