Everyone else obviously don't have the same issues with their footy that SW reckons Ledger has with his.

He may well get chopped at years end.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Funny how it took till round 17 for Curren to be given a chance because his disposal was so bad and most people were saying that he was only ever going to be a VFL player…

Yesterday he was probably in our top 10 players.

I hope Ledger is no good, the same as Curren is no good.

Regardless of political issues around the club, selection integrity should reward those that perform in the 2's & also fill a need… we have been desperate for more mids all year, while Ledger and Curren have rotted in the 2's… meanwhile our 4 amigo small forwards have just been pitiful.

That's because a good percentage of people that post here are either idiots or are sheep that perpetuate rumours.

Tom Curren was always quick & decently skilled. His only knock, as I stated a long time ago is height - but that can be overcome easily if you're good enough in other areas.

However, I've also seen a lot of Tom Ledger & he is nowhere near as smart a footballer as Tom Curren.

He racks up the stats but has a lot less impact on a game than TC.

Regardless he has deserved his chance well and truly - because let's face it, what have we had to lose for most of the year?

He's not going to come in and be the messiah though. A lot of people are getting deluded about his capabilities.

Cheers sav, it is good to hear from the people who see these guys first hand...

I'm probably guilty of repeating myths at times... I guess when you hear stuff enough you start to believe it.

Like you said though, deficiencies aside, we don't have much to lose at the moment by giving someone like Ledger a few games... You do like to see reward for effort and consistent performance in the 2's.

Yeah totally. I would've give him a game earlier this year if I was in charge - but I must say, when I see him at Sandy - I feel that he was at his peak in his debut season. I really rated him in his debut year - hell even Ross Lyon did. Certainly Scott Watters rated him when he got given the job, he kept name dropping Tom Ledger as well. Somethings gone wrong.

In the same way that some people will tell me Jack Watts is a gun because he got 24 possessions yesterday - I see him play & see all the basic stuff that he does wrong & I don't rate him for what he doesn't do as much as what he does do. Ledger is a bit similar to that, gets a lot of it, but blazes away, hogs it a fair bit, you never see him pushing up and back. Doesn't seem like a total team man to me.

He finds the ball ridiculously well - but his game after the possession is a big question mark for me.

He seems to cover the ground but he also kind of looks laboured when he runs with it as well. He looked much quicker in his Under 18 clips & debut season.

From team mates mouths," Tom needs to stop stuffing around at training and take it seriously. "

That was 12 months ago though, maybe his slack attitude just pissed the coaches off as well as his team mates.

Interesting that in this interview Watters says "we should rebuild the base at Moorabbin and use that as a really strong development tool".
Also basically says that Ledger has things to work on, and won't be selected until he does.

Could this also mean that Ledger won't be given a game this year but will be retained? Posters (me included) have all been thinking on the basis that these two things are mutually exclusive. Is it possible that SW is taking the line that Ledge is worth persevering with if he can address certain things and has told him so, and got Ledger to buy in to that?

take the VFL game against essendon. some said the poor disposal was due to the weather (strong winds etc) and it was the kind of day where you just throw it on the boot. problem is after qtr time the playing group was under strict instruction from the senior coach in mcphee to be clinical with their disposal and mind their turn overs high up the ground. 2 of which resulted in turn overs that resulted in a goal.

so what does ledger do, goes out there and recklessly throws it on the boot.

its stuff like that, that will hurt him.

then you can go into the finer details like not giving the handball off to the other mids in space, around the contest, that are in a better position to dispose of the ball

i cant see another AFL team taking him

No need for the abuse either. The "new rules" seem to allow some posters to be abused without penalty and repeat abusers to go without penalty.

Having watched that I have to agree that his disposal is quite terrible.

Seems like he can find a lot of it but at AFL level other teams will be happy to let him have it 40 times...

Looked OK to me.... What was surprising, 95% of his kicks were left foot? And he does that consistently, like Farren Ray

His disposal is heaps better from that video- last year his decision making and disposal were poor. From that he looks about the same as Curren looked. It was pretty blustery from the look of it. He's really unlucky not to be getting at least the odd senior game. He looks like there is no reason not to at least try him. I hope Him and Shenton get a game next week.

A sentiment many share at VFL level.... He is dominant in a crap Sandy team

I remember Ryce Jones and the other dude from the races saying the same thing in the game against the Bombers the other week. But again, what would they know? They only watch VFL every week.
