Trouble is now our players are losing a lot they still want to be treated like they are winning.

Remember in 09 and 10 we hardly lost.
So there was a lot of love to be had.
If we had a year of 5 17 Lyon would be busting balls and cracking heads.

I don't blame them really, they got treated like gods by Ross, not sure you'll get that out of them now. .
???????????????????????????????????????????????????
From what I saw and heard he just about flogged them to death as they had to stick rigidly to his game plan. At first some resisted. but they then all came of board once they realised he actually knew his stuff.
A few that could not fulfil their assigned roles (ie Ball), and/or were simply not good enough fell by the wayside.
When you hear St Kilda players and Feo players talk about Ross it is pretty universal that he is a great coach.

Re: Players running club...
So apparently ball couldnt fill his role but Eddy could (filling space and not touching the ball apparently)
Turn it up.
Lyon is obviously a good coach but he aint infallible.
Has had two very good lists at their peak to work with.

Eddy wasn't in competition with Ball. Eddy played as a sixth forward. He was never going to amass dream team points. His job was to chase and harass defenders. Completely different to what Ball did. We tried Ball in different roles and he was terrible at them. He was a one-dimensional grunt onballer. He was also selected a lot more than Eddy.Con Gorozidis wrote:So apparently ball couldnt fill his role but Eddy could (filling space and not touching the ball apparently)

Truly remarkable load of malarkey.
Now i know where fundamental christians come from.
I rate lyon as a coach highly.
But that doesnt meant i have to buy into every ridiculous fairytale so as to make him look infallible .
The 'space filling' fairytale is one of the most proposterous theories that Lyon deists like to spin.
Along with the ' Ball is no good' fairytale.

How am I supposed to respond to that? It's just a rant with no substantive argument. If I'm wrong, show me that I'm wrong.

I think Con "might" be trying to make the point that Ball was more important to the team than Eddyvacuous space wrote:How am I supposed to respond to that? It's just a rant with no substantive argument. If I'm wrong, show me that I'm wrong.
but not according to RL
but in those days the players didnt undermine the coach -
which brings the "ball" discussion back to the OP

don't know about that...lyin actually stated that he meant to play ball for more minutes in the grand final but actually forgot him........flowering disgacefull admission from a coach in a close grand final that we should have won........saintsRrising wrote:

..one i will never forgive or forget either......

When Milne was omitted, we found out who was running the club.
I don't blame them really, they got treated like gods by Ross, not sure you'll get that out of them now. We're not going to find Ross v2 though.
What!? So Ross Lyon is getting blamed for his coach getting sacked two years later?
Must be a pretty damn good coach then!

Re: Players running club...
The funniest part about this thread is that the 2 players blamed here for 'running the club' were barely able to get their contracts extended a year ago... despite years of solid performances.
Yet they have the power to get coaches sacked? Makes sense...
