Changes v Power
Possible changes
Out:
Battle (concussion and 5 day turnaround)]
Ross (statement)
Lonie (just doesn't do enough for an AFL player)
In:
Hannebery (if fit)
Roberton
Sinclair
Byrnes didn't do much but may give him another match
Probable
No change or Battle for Hannebery

Re: Changes v Power
To be honest, I’d take that.
My only query is whether Roberton is the right in.
I reckon we need to play both Ryder and Marshall which means we need another mid. Maybe Hind instead of Dylan but happy either way

Re: Changes v Power
I’d like to see Ross, Gresh and Lonie out to send a message.
I don’t really care about cheap goals or a good possession here and there, too many times they let us down.
Of course won’t happen though.

Re: Changes v Power
Reckon you’re way too harsh on Gresh. Is one of the few that tries to make things happen all night and doesn’t go missing.
Just needs to fix the set shots.

Re: Changes v Power
Agree with both Hanners and Sinclair but I don’t reckon we can play Roberton whilst we’ve got Howard, Carlisle and Wilkie in the team and they are all in very good form, so it has to be Webster or Savage for mine.

Re: Changes v Power
Gresham was one of our best, particularly when the game was on the line in the last. He and Ryder were key. And yes, needs a lot of work on his set shots

Gresh has x factor. His endevour was there tonight and he makes things happen . He's also a shotgun. Needs to become a rifle. Sniper preferably.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:56pmJust needs to fix his kicking full stop!

Re: Changes v Power
if we're serious about port we can't afford byrnes another game. can't take passengers in, training wheels or not. likewise dropping seb, he needs a kick up the butt but ranks are a bit thin atm. lonie kicks opportune goals and provides forward pressure. not sure that sincs could do his job. kent saved himself with two late goals.
hard to say though - with a short turnaround we'll likely see a few changes.

Re: Changes v Power
Absolutely no way gresh or Lonie get dropped
Gresh was very good aside from the two set shots and lonie was worth a few goals.
Byrnes can’t play against port if hannas is fit. That’d be my change and obvs if battle doesn’t come up we need a replacement
Otherwise I’d go with broadly the same side and put Ross ion notice and let Hill know a game is 4 qtrs not the first 2

Re: Changes v Power
From the sound things Hanners is going to have a terrible fight on his hands knocking Byrnes out of the best 22.

Re: Changes v Power
I tend to agree, that makes sense.
Lonie may be replaced - I'm sure, that when he didn't leave the area of "the wrong forward pocket for a left footer", will be brought up - whether he misses for Hannebery. I hope they don't cut the kid.

Re: Changes v Power
Sinclair in
Battle out (concussion)
With 2 rucks bit top heavy and extra run as well as reward performance ( from what we have been told) . Sinclair you would hope will be chapping at the bit.
Give Hannabrey an extra week with his history and long flight on game day. My guess is we will have a couple QLD games next few weeks.

Re: Changes v Power
Wow in another post you said Hill Geary and Ross should be dropped for a few weeks
And here you are doubling down on Ross and adding Gresham and Lonie
So you want at least 5 omissions to a winning team. !!

Re: Changes v Power
Laughable isn't it. Saints sitting in 5th position with 4 wins and 3 losses which really should be 6 wins and 1 loss and on top of the ladder.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Tue 21 Jul 2020 10:32amWow in another post you said Hill Geary and Ross should be dropped for a few weeks

Re: Changes v Power
Interesting to note that Gresh had 5 tackles last night.
16 disposals, 1.2 and 5 tackles.
He kicks straights he’s almost BOG

Re: Changes v Power
Yes as per my comment earlier. It is kicking that lets him down.
Way too often he kicks across his body.
And when kicking straight he seems to try a and really roost it.
If he could just settle a bit and kick within his limits rather than always pushing his limit with every kick. Banger did this and became deadly with his short kicking game.

I don’t about the changes but wouldn’t you love it if instead of the usual reasons of injured/managed etc they gave the above reasons.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:40pm Possible changes

Re: Changes v Power
i (and likely i'd suspect many) wanted to give him votes last night, but his kicking was just too awful to do so. under 40% disposal efficiency. as for his set kicking for goal. gawd. i actually called on him to dish it off when shooting dead in front, twenty out. nonsensical. really needs a mentor to help him work out his issues. he needs to be taught how to kick and get it drilled into him so intensely that it becomes muscle memory.

If you’re happy with 10-12 possession games from 2 of our senior midfield leaders, good for you.
They should be embarrassed with that return running out next to blokes like Steele, Jones and even Billings.

Of course it won't .The selectors are not stupid.
This team has us 4 and 3 and heading for finals. Could and should be 6 and 1 and equal top of the ladder ffs l
