Take a breath

Post: # 1863295Post nostalgicsaint »

Our threads are all a bit harsh for mine.

Yesterdays performance was reflective of exactly where we're at.

Could have easily won and had we of we would be over performing.

King is doing great work for a player of less than 20 games.
Sinclair for someone who was in the twos until recently stood up for us in the last QTR
Ross who has been a whipping boy was solid and locked down on their best accumulator. In fact the only times he stuffed up was when he doubted himself to kick.
Hills ball use was a clear stand out
Jones desperation led the way
Steele monstered the game
Skunk showed great leadership
Billings struggled but like class players do influenced the game late
Our ruck combo is continuing to influence games

We ran one of the premiership favourites close despite not playing our best footy. This place should be buzzing not looking for people to hang. They'll learn from that game. We ran them off their feet and missed our opportunities.

We didn’t play at out best but then neither did the lions, if they had of kicked straight the result would have been more like the Geelong and Collingwood games.

We missed some sitters too. That stuff up by shunk and Billings really did "stink". Wasn't Billings fault either.

Good OP

We are not a top 4 side....yet!

But we have alot of the ingredients.

We are now a destination club.

We need one good trade period to be right in contention.

If you look at the stats the game was very even, maybe even have us ahead.
The main difference was they butchered more shots on goal and we didn't make the most of our opportunities to get a shot on goal.

St Kilda just needs a solid and qualified mature aged mid from another club. And we will get one.

Just as important as further list development, is the experience gained in each game, the body development in the Gym in the off season and the growing confidence should help us lift our potency next year. Hopefully the experience of a final or two will also help - but I'm still not giving up on a miracle this season.

I tried too, but was hyperventilating. I am also worried about my increasingly irrational paranoia about Umpire Foote, 2.

Don't agree. Next year Gresh and Clark will be in the middle - unless your mature mid keeps them out.

We should try to get Mundy on a 2-year contract, I don't care that he's 35. Could be the midfielder we need for a flag.

There are always injuries. The more mids the better. If none of them are injured just keep rotating them to keep them honest.

And if you didn’t watch the game you’d say we were in it all day
Unfortunately when you watch Lions butcher it in front of goals after long periods of domination you realise at half time we were lucky to in reach

Serious?

I didn't think we were that far off it.

It's not paranoia if it's true.

Excellent post Colleague! Perfect summation of the game for my money! Kudos!

Interesting stats, but what they don’t show is how easily we were scored against in comparison to our attacking bombs being thwarted. We’re boringly predictable.

If you've been bored by St kilda this year I'd suggest AFL isn't going to please you much going forward.

We've been universally acknowledged as one of the most entertaining and interesting teams to watch in 2020.

Plenty of sub plots to follow too.

Two rucks or one
When will King break out
Can our captain and vice captain hold their spots
What position is best for H. Clark
Which small forwards keep their spot

It's okay to wish we were a couple years further into our rise but to call us boring or in fact to question the game plan development in a coaches first year is a bit harsh imo.

At the start of the year most had written it off as a development year and yet we're on track to play finals with some pissed we're not going to make the top 4.
