Jake stays in my IMHO
He was out for a while, give him continuity

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
I'd love to say yes MT but for a bloke who received a last minute one year contract (his incentive), his undoubted abilities (his cross) but it's a visible attitude, lacking intensity, desire & interest (his nails) that mean it's a NO from me.MickThomas wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 2:07am Jake stays in my IMHO

Give Long Hill's role and see how he goes.
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
Totally agree with the OP. We lose McKenzie also with his 1 match ban. Even if Hill is fit to play give him a week to get himself together.
Bring in Ryder, Bytel, Byrnes & Webster (if fit) otherwise Connolly.
After that the cupboard is completely bare.

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
As a footballer, Long is not up to it. Has had plenty of time to show some consistency but he keeps making stupid mistakes and it costs the team. Yeah he's hard but so what!
He fumbles a lot and turns it over.

Is that out of the team or out of the club ?1965 Saint wrote: ↑Mon 26 Apr 2021 11:52pm Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long and see the miraculous change in attitude and effort
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
And extremely undisciplined, free kicks behind the ball, stupid 50 m penalties trying to be the "tough guy" . Focus on the footy - its like he has read he is hard and goes out of his way to do this.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 2:23pm As a footballer, Long is not up to it. To me needs 2-3 weeks in reserves to improve rather than in and out as has been - really no consequences

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
What happened to Long?
He was really showing some improvement in late 2019 and started 2020 in fine form.
He looks totally shot in confidence now.
Perhaps send him back forward and have him watch the hard tackling and forward pressure role Mc Donald Tippa (can't spell his name) plays.

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
It’s not Long’s lack of discipline that’s the issue
The odd free kick or 50 is whatever
It’s his lack of ability that’s a concern, he can’t get a kick

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
As opposed to the stars who are racking them up, right?
So all our woes and results are because of Longy and Max King and HunterClark are they? Didn’t see you criticising senior players
Even Seb Ross has had poor matches this year where he just wasn’t getting the footy.
How’s Zac, Brad and a few others going this year?

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
Impressed no one has used the over the hill cliche. This week, Hill injured or managed, Jake "rested", Long may stay because DMac suspended and he is quick. One scenario: in Ryder, Webster, Bytel and Byrnes out DMac, Hill, Lonie and Jake C. Dunstan medsub. Hawthorn coach will instruct his players to get into Ben and wait for the reaction: one or more of 50m, report, turnovers; or a remarkable transformation in Ben's anger management.

Re: Out with Hill, Carlisle and Long
Not sure saying other player are playing bad too, is a good argument about Longs form?!
He’s been putrid!
He got 6 disposals against Port of which 3 were ineffective
Clark, as poor as his defensive game was, had 18 disposals playing in defence like Long!
Ross (who had 31) has got votes on here in three games (where he’s genuinely a whipping boy) please don’t compare the pair!!!
