Ladhams
According to SEN he is now off our radar
Too much money and cost in trade.
But I would be interested in what we think would actually serve the list better:
Ladhams or Seb Ross?
Ladhhams looks a quality ruck forward who can't break in for games at Port, and we only really have Hunter and Heath in reserve. One is too young and the other is ordinary at best.
Seb is on a gradual decline and we have several players to cover his spot.
I just reckon we might want to consider list balance.
Surely trading / delisting Lonie, Hunter possibly Long and or Ross would free up enough dollars and trade value for Ladhams.
Thoughts?

Re: Ladhams
He does seem like an ideal recruit for our list both in terms of emerging talent, depth and list balance
We know categorically that we’re 100% better team with both Marshall and Ryder on the park but that Paddy is playing in his last season and both had injury prone seasons.
Heath is a good prospect but only a prospect at the moment
If not Ladhams… you’d think we’d be wanting to recruit someone in a hurry.
Certainly these positions where we appear to have an abundance of similar types… seems like we could stand to move a few on but I doubt they’re garnering a ton of interest

Re: Ladhams
If he is to expensive and I here that our salary cap is ok what is the problem do we get second rate players or kids and have to wait another 5 years till they are ready by then some would have been poached.
We need to get the mind set that spend overs sometimes to get what we wont I don't like it but we have a real opportunity to do well over the next few years if we recruited right, and a lot of other teams like Carlton and Essendon are spending big.

Re: Ladhams
Ladhams is also out of contract end of 2022. Port have said to trade will need a very good deal so perhaps dont want to give up what Port are asking as opposed to paying him but dont want to upset port publicly coming into trade period.
I can see him remaining there and then off contract the year after so perhaps not the worst outcome ?

Re: Ladhams
The dollars would not be the problem. The trade value is the issue.
Ross, Lonie, Hunter and Long would collectively not gain enough to get Ladhams in.
Ross, no one is buying, maybe get a 3rd rounder if someone did
Lonie, no trade value
Hunter, no trade value
Long, a pick between 30-50
So together, that would not be enough to pry him out of their hands…
Until next year when he is uncontracted, and his trade value decreases on the PA side.
Ross, Lonie, Hunter and Long would collectively not gain enough to get Ladhams in.

Re: Ladhams
This is precisely correct. For all the Seb lovers out there - there is no way a club with contending aspirations should be getting rid of a 28 yo 2 x B & F winner - supposedly in his prime - certainly not over the hill. Equally, clubs should be very happy to pay a 2nd rounder for this kind of player.diddley wrote: ↑Fri 01 Oct 2021 5:15pm The dollars would not be the problem. The trade value is the issue.

And yet - we can barely give him away. Says everything about how our competitors view Seb.

Re: Ladhams
Whoever we get is going to be the 3rd banana, will play to rest Ryder or RoMa (should he need it) so no point paying overs. Perhaps Fort (Gee) or Briggs (GWS).
We have some big contracts to sign, Steele & RoMa plus we need salary cap wiggle room should Bing or a FA gun midfielder become available.
Bananas are ridiculously expensive at the best of times, 3rd bananas should be cheaper.

Re: Ladhams
If we got a 3rd rounder for Long
Which would hopefully guarantee our NGAs this year....would we consider next year's 2nd for Ladhams
Keep pick 11, 2 x 3 round picks
Get Ladhams, Sonsie, Windhager , Owens
Give Long
Trade or delist Lonie and Hunter for cap space (must be 300k at least and 550K if you include Long)

Probably 2nd ruck when Paddy breaks down by round 4.

Re: Ladhams
And freeing up cap space by delisting players on minimum wage?!
Draftees would be on as much as them
Plus, a big pay increase to Max.
We haven’t got cash to splash

Re: Ladhams
We're no talking getting Cerra in though are we.
BM as per the OP, who would you prefer on the list for 2022 Ross or Ladhams?
Assuming they were on the same $

Re: Ladhams
I'd be very surprised if Paddy played more than 12 games next year, I reckon we will be alot more strategic with him.
Certainly from 2023 Ladhams is first or second ruck and Heath by then as 3rd

Re: Ladhams
I'm not sure Ross is a walk up start for round 1 either.
But I do know that if and when Paddy or Roma go down...it is a long way back to Hunter.
I think Im quoting you correctly when you said he was the worst football player you've ever seen

We have already desisted Carlisle, Frawley and McKernan
Hannaberry has taken a haircut....
it surely adds up to a back up ruckman unless we are actually over the cap

As stated the issue is more what Port want. As contracted they control the price and asking too much.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Fri 01 Oct 2021 6:10pm We have already desisted Carlisle, Frawley and McKernan
