Crows got us at the right time, on their own dung heap.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Just listened to a pre-game interview with Ross before the Hawthorn game on MMM radio Melbourne.

Very matey with plenty of laughs and lots of sledging of other radio stations and other personalities who work on stations other than the one that employed Lyon for a couple of years (James Brayshaw loves to do that and he learnt it from Sam Newman who learnt if from Rex Hunt)

Lyon was recalling how much fun he had when he was in the Triple M box with the other radio guys last year when Collingwood beat Carlton. Especially when the SEN commentators including Andy Maher were just next door and he saw Andy’s face when Elliot kicked the goal to put Carlton out of finals

Anyhow…that was all par for the course but what caught my attention was what Lyon said in closing. They talked about the pressures of the caper in coaching in light of Clarko stepping down and Dimma retiring from senior coaching. He said; “Keep the seat warm for me boys”. Wow!!

I get that he understands he won’t be coaching forever, but I didn’t expect him to be talking about the possibility of his next job while he’s still in his current one. Even if he was joking

Take it for the joke and the environment that it was said in. If we are looking too much further than that then we are looking for something we wish to see.

Has looked like he has been off the last few weeks .. knows we will miss the 8 ..those early wins were an anomaly. The accolades came and wernt really welcomed . Reality has come for the rest of us but RTB all ready knew ...like a train crash in slow motion ..you see it early but can't stop it.

The "year of exploration" comments followed by no selection changes is hypocrisy at its finest.

At least Ratts was a straight shooter.

Re the presser

He seemed to look to diffuse the obvious questions on supporters minds…as the journos asked them

Selection
Jack Billings
Windy

Seems good at ‘greying out’ the colours in the questions.

Press conference was poor - he sounded like he was pissed and like he doesn’t give a f***!

If I hear year of exploration one more time - I’ll spew up

BTW Ross
Billings is a Winger/HF

I think he simply uses the press conference to push out a message I don’t think he cares to much about what the press think…they there for a message
He was honest - we deserved to lose it and the effort was poor
He also mentioned that Jack Billibgs HIMSELF states he’s a small HF …whose missed a whole pre season and our small forwards have been travelling ok so Billing’s ain’t the answer
Windy he was emphatic on - they’re working with him on things that’s good he’ll get ganes

The gloss is starting to wear off the new shiny Ross, he had an absolute shocker this week at selection and on game day. Had his pants pulled down by a rookie coach, managing a developing team. Pathetic...

I don’t think selection this week was right either but I’d take Lyon Enright Hayes Harvey over what we’ve had previous days with Richo/Ratten anyway
Today was ordinary and I think sides we jumped early cause we were fit have caught up
Now the coaching group needs to get to work but equally so do some players who will be playing for their careers

I don’t agree
We played 1 4 qtr game last year (against Hawks)
Had nowhere near the injuries last year
Have seen kids come on this year that will take us forward
W/L isn’t all we should look at

Only in hindsight. We looked good this time last year. We were tracking nicely. Of course the wheels fell off and changes needed to be made after what transpired and what we learnt.

It looks like the wheels have fallen off one week early this year.

RTB isn’t infallible and he should be scrutinised just like anyone else.

Someone needs to walk into RTB’s office on Monday morning and slap him and keep slapping him until he wakes up and realises the game has gone passed role players, you can no longer carry blokes like Paton and Byrnes.
The pair of them remind me of poorer versions of McQualter and Eddy!!

I was shut down many times this year after pointing out that we blitzed the pre-bye rounds last year and fell to bits.

The response was "it's different this year, the way they're playing is sustainable, it's solid".

It isn't. It needs tweaks, and if we don't tweak we will be staring down the barrel of 10th place.
