Didn't mention umpires, cheating or AFL conspiracies, perhaps stay in your wheelhouse Curly

My thoughts on this team are best summed up by this song and it’s not meant to be a criticism either.

Seems pretty close to the mark. It also tells me that we don't have that many out anymore that would normally play.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Hilarious. Nearly as funny as your attempted best team.

Perhaps you could do better and show where I’m “miles off” Curly.

It would be nice to be properly educated on the matter, as Curly knows football 😁

You have to go with form. I think Webster stays in the 22. He is one of our best when it comes to locking down on the small forwards.

Windy has a role to play depending on opposition. We should be using Windhager as a tagger.

A lot of young midfielders gain their stripes and get development by running with some of the best mids in the game. Windy did this successfully a couple of times last year, so we know he has the endurance needed and he can do the job

My view has been that the clubs who have a midfield that bats deep, usually play off in finals. We don't rotate the workload enough. Each week it's the same guys in the middle.

Maybe if we rotate a little more (as Ross Lyon has done in some games) and workloads and responsibilities are shared over a 4 week block, then players are fresher for the marathon home and away rounds.

Marshall got 1 mark, 1 disposal and 1 goal in the first quarter today against Carlton. He spent most of the time running around in the ruck and in defence after that. I think his first touch (in our forward line) was worth more than his next ten.

Both Pittonet and De Koning spent most of the time and got most of their disposals forward of centre.

We can't just think that Marshall can ruck on his own every week. Maybe for 15 games a year Yes, but he needs help and we need a dedicated ruck for support

I don't think you can play Caminiti in the same team as King, Membrey, Marshall and Phillipou and Owens. I'd drop who ever isn't in good form or performing to expectations.

In a year of exploration, I'd have Windy, Owens and Bytel as our starting midfielders next week. If Steele isn't 'managed' then give him a spot as a high half forward. At least he'll make the distance if he has a set shot from 45m out

Here's the dilemmas.
They are all so coachable. But
Sunday's effort was unacceptable and on that showing the side would have Buckley's of beating either Tiges or Cats.
However Ross hates changing the side. So,
Do we go stubborn and prove the "first choice " 22 are unworthy to be finalists or make changes and at least do something to win.
I reckon they will bottle it and pick the same side bar Gresham and give the others a stern talking to. (assumption, coaching staff want to make finals, because the opposite would explain a number of anomalies)
