The Saints making me cry? Have you got about a year?

The recent ones that come to mind are R 6, 2004 Vs Brisbane, QF 2005 Vs Adelaide and PF 2005 Vs Sydney. I also think I cried before R 22 this year when I heard Fraser was giving it away.

Obviously all the other retirements, etc have been sad affairs.

Actually the closest Ive felt to shedding a tear was BEFORE the 97 GF.. watched the team when Iran out onto the ground and when they linked arms for the National Anthem I had a lump in my throat the size of a tennis ball I was so proud. Saw enough tears shed after the game though.

I'm saving mine up for when we finally win the Cup...if you are gonna cry at a footy game might as well be tears of happiness I reckon

Yep, same with me - very proud moment. I reckon I had a tear or two in the eyes in the social club at Moorabbin when we knocked the crows off thanks to R.Harvey in the 2005 QF.

I think i cried from 1985 - 1989. I was only 4 - 8 years old but what a crap era.

97 i just got angry and 2005 prelim was the worst day in the saints history we had that flag we were so close!!

My eyes can get a bit watery however I never actually cry.

During games though I struggle to stay calm. Every game is a rollercoaster unless we're 5 goals up in the last.

Footy is emotionally draining for me and definitely not good for the heart.

Lately when I've watched a game at home and it's tight in the last quarter, I've developed a habit of turning the tv off and doing something else because I just can't handle the nerves.

I'm going to do my best to stop that next season because it still hurts just as much when I find out we've lost, but when we win I feel like I've missed something that I would've remembered forever, like the last few minutes of Harvey's 350th.

Obviously I was still ecstatic after that particular win but in reality I'm taking the easy way out. The feeling of winning is not the same when you don't ride every bump with the boys until the final siren.

You definitely need a high level of mental toughness to follow St.Kilda. When my toughness wavers I always ask myself to try and display the qualities I expect our players to show.

i wasnt there, but it killed me to see Guerra miss that soccer kick with seconds to go to get the scores level! ive seen the replay hundreds of times since, and still wonder how he was so slow to get boot to ball!
but we cant blame it on 1 player, i believe it was us supporters who stuffed it up by running on the ground and having a party for a few mins when the G train kicked his 100th, and that gave port players a good 3 mins to get together and talk about what their doing wrong, and how they can improove!

I have lost count of how many times i have put the ball through the goals with my right foot at the park (opposite foot just like Wiggy), just makes it the more depressing

Once at Waverley, watching the Lions or was it the Bears, my eyes got watery when my head was being pelted with hail stones. At the same time though I had a smile on my face as I watched the Lions/Bears players running around with their jumpers pulled over their heads.

I'm definitely taking that on board. Thinking about that during a game would help me enormously, believe me.

No doubt though that supporters are more jittery during a game than the footballers playing the game. Footballers know they actually have a bearing on the outcome of a game, where as we pin our hopes on the players and have to just sit, watch and pray that they all do the right thing to help our club get over the line. It can be excruciating.

04' Prelim was awful but the game where I was the most upset was the round 21 game against Freo at Subiaco in 2005.

That damn Longmuir kicking the goal after the siren.

I felt devistated. The injures we suffered that game were terrible and I remember leaving the room as he kicked the goal thinking that we couldn't win the GF now with the injuries we had.

How true it turned out to be......

Burkies last game, just the music and first game i'd been to where a player retired. Little girl behind me was balling her eyes out.
2005 final game against sydney. was SOOOO frustrated and burst into tears, cried bout 10 mins in the last quarter.

The National Anthem gets me going each and EVERY time saints are involved in a final but the day after 2005 P/F I was very tearful. Such a sad end to the ride after a fantastic trip to Adelaide for the Q/F the week before.
