how long are they going to get away with not having any proper forwards?

theyve lost two of their best midfielders, their two captains
for nothing but some exciting young kids and a kepler bradley like forward

i expect them to spend a year or two either just making finals or out of finals before they will come and serve it to the competition again

I still think they have a good crop of second tier player's that can make them still a fairly useful side.

I would be thinking they would be in the bottom half of the eight, but with a fair share of games in Perth, they only need to snag about 3 away games to make the eight, which they should easily.

Looks like the Swans will drop out of the 8. They got some rebuilding to do. West Coast look decent enough, but I reckon they'll fall to around 5-8.

Cats, Hawks, Pies should stay in the 8, I reckon anyway. Roos, who knows, everyone said they'd be last at the start of the year, and they ended up in a prelim final, one step away from a GF. Port will be there as well, got some great youngsters comin up.

Hopefully Swans and Eagles will make way for the Saints and Lions next year.

Forgot the Crows lol, umm yeah they're gone I reckon. Make that Swans and Crows out for us and the Lions.

You would expect Crows and Swans to be definite with kangaroos being slight chances...

IMO it will be...
IN: Saints, Lions and Blues
OUT: Crows, Swans and Kangaroos

For a ladder of:
1. Geelong
2. Hawthorn
3. St.Kilda
4. West Coast

5. Brisbane
6. Collingwood
7. Port Adelaide
8. Calrton

9. Kangaroos (Forcing them to the gold coast)
10. Sydney
11. Fremantle
12. Melbourne
13. Crows
14. Essendon
15. Richmond
16. Bulldogs

Geelong are just too strong, Hawthorn are looking the goods, With any luck we will be the big improvers and even without Judd and Cousins WCE still have an awesome lineup...

Port will slide IMO as will Collingwood.

I hate to say it, I really do but they have a lot of excitement around the club... however I do believe it will be a very short term hike...
In 2009 I believe they will be out and then back to back spoons in '10 and '11....

FB: Houlihan S.O'Hailpin Thornton
HB: Walker Jamison Hadley
C: Scotland Murphy Carazzo
HF: Fisher Waite K.Simpson
FF: Gibbs Fevola Betts
R: Cloke Stevens Judd
I/C: Hampson Bentick Jackson Kreuzer

That team is not looking too shabby, however I am hoping that with Judd's long term contract you will start seeing players like Simpson and Thornton walking out for more money...

a team of a few champions doesnt make a champion team

a team of a few injured, battered champs does even make an ok team

ill be surprised if carlton do anything more than 8 victories in 08

I think the Hawks will drop off. A bit like Geelong 2 years ago. Expectations are high but the list is still a bit young & immature. Could be totally wrong though.

I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Can't see Geelong missing, but really, any of the others could slip. It's a fairly weak cycle at the moment, no reason we can't finish right up there next year if we have some luck with injuries for a change. We're a long way off from where we were 2-3 years ago,but so is the competition, Geelong are the only powerhouse, the rest are mediocre, if we're on our game, top 4

I'm not even game to make a suggestion this year. However, I know that we will be top 6, even with some bad luck with injuries.

Picked Kangas for 16th last year like most. Had Geelong 6th at best.

Crows and Swans.

Kangas will pull finals off again - even without the Arch - as they look to succeed in Melbourne. It really is their last chance.

I agree Blues a big chance for finals.

Out Swans, Crows and maybe either Collingwood(doubtful but possible), or the Kangaroos.

Us in with Brisbane, and Carlton to sneak in if one of Pies or Roos dont get in.

Judd is obviously a big in but Stevens being back in is equally massive...
This will push Murphy from the number 1 man down to number 3 and that will really help his development along nicely...
Setanta will have another year under his belt and will continue to improve, at times this year he wasn't completely shocking...
Carazzo, Scotland, Simpson and Fisher will continue their form one would assume, Jamison is looking the goods IMO and Gibbs will continue to improve...
While the backline is terrible for accountability it could provide a lot of attack and IMO this will make Carlton one of the more entertaining teams to watch because they are certain to be involved in many high scoring games....

I don't think that they are going to be brilliant but I do think that they will go alright, which will make it oh so much sweeter when they fall right back down
