Though at only 78kg.....he may be too light for FB.......maybe that is why he models himself on Fletcher????

So both Chivers and he would seem to be third defender types.

Fergie will be under the pump even more so now....

Luke Miles Wins Swan Medal

Luke Miles has won his first Swan Medal at Swan Districts Football Club’s annual Swan Medal Count and Trophy Presentation.

Runner-ups included Nick Ingall, Tallan Ames, Dean Ipaviz, Garth Taylor, Josh Roberts and Dennis Armfield.

The 2007 Swan Medal commemorates the Season’s fairest and best players through a presentation of awards to the Club’s League, Colts and Reserve players, for both men’s and women’s competitions.

Some of these prestigious awards include The Swan Medal and the President’s Shield for League players, the E.J. McManus Shield and the Judy Sarich Shield for the Colts, the Sweetapple Memorial Shield and the Richard Farris Memorial Shield for the Reserves.

Clint Gribble won the Reserves Best and Fairest and member of the 2007 Colts Grand Finalists Steve Potente.

The Medal Count and Trophy Presentation kicked off at 7pm with a warm welcome from the Club’s President, Peter Harvey, who reflected on some of the reasons he loves being involved with the Club.

The Swan Medal also featured season overviews from Colts premiership Coach Chad Morrison, Chris Lewis and Garry Sidebottom.

Members, players and sponsors of the Club danced into the early hours of the morning and celebrated the joy that is being apart of the Swan Districts Football Club.

Luke won Swan districts best and fairest on the weekend and beat the 20m sprint record. Usually plays as a defender but is known to run forward and kick goals. Good speed, maybe what we need to boost our midfield. what do you think?

Surpring that his stats were not higher

Great press for him and little for Armfield, Roberts who had a high stat seasons.

He is very quick, and has a huge leap on him. Often played back pocket or Full back at Swans over the last 2 seasons, and isn't a ball magnet as such. Sometimes his decision making has let him down. Would be a calculated risk but could benefit from a AFL pre season and putting on a few KGs

One of several swannies that Freo should be looking at such as:

Armfield, Rance, Ellard, Notte.

Pity we won't get Natanui next season.

Terrific closing speed apparently, which is what you want in a defender.

Obviously we have taken a couple of defenders (Chivers, Miles) in the hope that one of the makes it and will eventually be able to hold down a key back spot for the Saints ...

Mini is lucky, but it might be the wake-up call he needs. Terrific character and now needs to show he can perform on the footy field.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

terrific news on Mini

the kid has talent, he needs a bit of confidence and some positive coaching.

IMO talent doesn't go, discipline, confidence, health, fitness and dedication may go, but talent is talent.

Well done mini, I hope you grab this opportunity with both hands and make it work for you.

pick 56 or whatever in the rookie draft shows how far you've slipped, but it also shows that st kilda still believe you have something to contribute.

I think Chivers is a touch too small fora key defender role ??? I think he is something like 188cm??? (Edited..no I was wrong..evidently he is about 6 foot 3...so about 190/191)
So more a HBF.....but the goss has it that he may be better thana HBF anda late bloomer.

Edited...so yes is a potential key defender as well.

Correction again... back to the future!!!

No 8. Glenn Chivers (Oakleigh Chargers/St Kevins) DOB:09Apr89, 189cm, 85kg,

so he is probably juts a tad too small for FB...

Two big names not mentioned missed out in Sampi and Dunn... Looks like a couple of potentially good/great careers washed away... a abit of bad luck, particularly for Dunn... Horrible run of injuries...

Glad mini is back as a rookie. He has a lot to prove now, and not going to cost us as much if he fails as being on the main list.. End of a good recruiting period for the saints.. bring on 08..

well all in all I am very happy about our combined trades, drafts and rookie selections.

Combined the recruits have address all of our areas of weakness.......including Miles now asa back FB...and someone that has potential to be groomed into a replacement for Max.

Ruck..small forward...midfield......and now key defender have all been addresses (though yes they still have to make it.)

With his pace....apart from FB..he could obviously also play BP or HBF....

Found some more info from BF

8 St Kilda – Glen Chivers ( Oakleigh Chargers / 189cm / 85kg)

Bit of a bolter late in the year where he proved himself to be a capable FB / CHB. Been a rower and has strong build and very athletic. Good below the knees and would be one that the Saints would see as having heaps of upside. Probably not going to hold down a KP and that may mean he wont go. Sort of the that in between height.

Luke Miles

Could it be Luke Miles from Swan Districts he was talking about? About 192-195cm IIRC, played full back for Swans and won the B&F, 20m sprint time of 2.78 sec and huge vertical leap. Is 21 this month.

well if noone had picked mcqualter up, the saints would have had to pay him out for 2008. this way he has a chance

Wouldn't it be great if St Kilda accidently called out the wrong bloke.

He certainly can play Stinger... not very well but he can play. Good luck to him if he can make it but I would have thought that Mini was cut due to talent...not attitude. Getting a second chance can straighten blokes out with big heads or poor work ethic... not sure about a bloke with not enough speed for a slight bodied player, not strong enough to lay a tackle and questionable skills.

He'll have as much impact as James Wall did this year... a wasted pick IMO.
