Could Rix be a backmen?
With Kosi, King and Gardiner here there's no room for Rix in the ruck (not that he was any good there anyway). But with Max possibly retiring in the next two years we are going to be thin in the backline.
With no obvious replacement, one possibility could be with Max retiring, Goose could go to FB and Rix could go to the backline. He's definately big enough and strong enough, so I think by the time Max retires we could groom Rix as a backmen. He played there for a bit at the end of the 2006 season but I'm not too sure how he went. At least this way we don't lose a big guy once Max retires.
Just throwing it out there.

Believe me I used to think the same thing. I couldn't stand him, but when Max retires it is going to be a massive lost unless we can find someone to replace him in the backline. Rix is useless in the ruck, but he might be useful as a backmen. Not saying he's the answer, but with no obvious replacement I think Rix could be thrown back there.Mr X from the West wrote:Let's get real. There is no room for Rix in our team, plenty of players have gone past him in the pecking order.

Well that is where he played against the Tigers...and he did ok.
But if we have fit players you would expect to see little of him...but if we have injuries and the opposition are likely to play a big forward or two he is an option.

Don't confuse what I am saying, I am not a GT fan.....the fact is, Rix has played as a backman.....whether he is one or not, both RL and GT have given him a run theresaintly wrote:and GT is knows it allsaintlee wrote:I think you could be right, he has played there previously, and played there on friday night as well......certainly GT seemed to rate him as a backman.....

In 06 he played on Cam Mooney at the dome and tore him up
He is the fastest at the Saints over 400m unless Eddy and Miles have over taken him
Very fit for a big man, and quite quick over short distances
it is more getting the self esteem and belief in himself and he could do anything, i guess it is hard to do the right thing when people are always mocking you.
It will be hard for Clint Jones to be a good player with so many doubters
Some do step up, like Fiora but it makes it damn hard

Guys like Longmuir, Simmonds, and such that rest up forward would be a good matchup for Rix. This allows our ruckmen to rest on the bench when on rotation. Of course I think Maguire would be more than suited also.Mr Magic wrote:IMHO there is much more chance of Miles being elevated from the Rookie List to play FB than Rix getting the job permanently.
I can only imagine he would get a job at FB if the opposition play a 'ruckman' type as their FF and Max/Goose are both out.
