Dont jump off just yet...

Post: # 555197Post One Eyed Saint »

As a long time suffering saints supporter tonights result is not expected.

We were NEVER EVER going to win against port. My reasoning is:

- We have lost the last 10 of 11 games against them
- They match up well against us
- They had two ruckmen, we had NONE... (RIX!!!!!!)
- A very defernsive game plan.

We could have got smashed tonight by 60 points. 20 points is fair

Once we get Gardy, King and Schneider back we will be competitive.

In 2004-06 we had gun midfielders and no ruckman. Now we have good midfielders and combined with quality ruckman we will be competitive against anyone.

If King and Gardy are still injured play Macca or someone else. We at least need to be PHYSICALLY competitive against oppos rucks.

We will get much better than tonight in 2008.

GO SAINTS.

To an extent true, but I think that's the most frustrating thing, that with these players we had to resort to that to be a chance.

Love your optimism but even when we have the lot in at best this year weve played a qtr or 2 of attacking, free flowing footy. It does appear we are lacking any structure going fwd.

Exactly we could've come back in that last qtr when port were begining to choke and i still would've been filthy with a win.

Yes when we get players back who seem to take 3 times longer to recover from a simple injury then any other club.
It's the same old soft tissue injury syndrome at St.Kilda.

We were NEVER EVER going to win against port. My reasoning is:

- We have lost the last 10 of 11 games against them - hear hear praise Port.
- They match up well against us - and again they did
- They had two ruckmen, we had NONE... (RIX!!!!!!) - and at no stage did Rixy try to make them feel pain or try to - doesnt matter, soft as butter.
- A very defernsive game plan. - yeah we have a very very very very defensive game plan - embarrassingly so.

We could have got smashed tonight by 60 points. 20 points is fair - hould have been belted by 80.

Once we get Gardy, King and Schneider back we will be competitive. - yep two weeks each of them

All in all I'm so happy I could sh1t.

Was an insipid pathetic performance - but yeah let's treat it like it was another great Saints effort.

Cos we like those efforts.

Cos they're what we like.

Yeah.

Yep.

We like those efforts.

Yeah.

Before the start of the season I had us 4 - 2 after six rounds (penciled in losses to Geelong and Port)

We are 3 - 3 with Richmond (TD) Collingwood (TD) Brisbane (Gabba) and Melbourne (TD) to come in the next 4 matches - we need to win at least 3 of these games (probably losing to Brisbane)

It's not disastrous by any means and its a long season - keep faith people - we can only improve!!!

Iceman, not a great game, just being realistic.

We are going to lucky to make the 8 at this rate.

Going forward we should
- NEVER EVER play Rix again
- Play Armo every week, he will get better and better
- Build a forward line around Kosi, Roo and C Gard. (Sorry Frase)
- Bring geary back in for Birss. Geary is part of the future of this team

Ane one final thing, Bakes should clean up Dals tagger every week.

When games start to slip we don't do anything to change the outcome. We need to have more physical presence when things are not going our way.

We might be struggling but I'm not about to give my beloved saints a wack when they are sitting 3-3 and have good players to come back in.

GO SAINTS
