Essendon. Our tackling was superior, our clearances was equal if not better. and we won.

After sitting on the fence i'm putting myself in the "we're not going anywhere this year" half of the forum after that result. Tonight's game was season defining.

Agree. Midfield were the best I've seen all season which is not saying much I know. Forward line was ordinary and god we missed roo but on the whole very positive signs. I thought the pies were very lucky tonight.
Now I'm going to put my hands over ears and not listen to any negativity.
I'm not stupid, just a bit drunk.

the posative is we should have won had we have taken 2 of the 6 to 8 easy scoring opportunities which we missed
forget the umpires & coach we have only ourselves to blame tonight

From what I saw and nearly getting into a blue with some Filth scumbag at the pub, I'd have to agree!! We looked like we were on the right track, but sadly lacked a little bit of direction! The Collywobbles and the Umps were against us tonight...and that's a tough gig by anyone's standards! My weekend is successfully ROOTED!! Thanks so much!
Go my sensatioal Under 10's team! Unfrickendefeated at the top level!!!!!!!

Positive-
Robert Harvey kicked for goal from near the 50 mtre line
Luke Ball kicked for goal from near the 50 mtre line (where's his 50/50 to even play?)

Leigh fisher and Jason Blake proved their stopping worth and defensive pressure

the defense kept the score from being blown out in the last quarter- including a GREAT mark by Raph,- and clearing kick to A saint- several times.

Luke, Lenny, Dal and Joey having consistent time on the ground ( some commentators saw that as a negative)

BJ got through another game

we are one game closer to Baker, X , Gilbo and Nick returning,

Gram was running free-er than recently

NO major injuries? ( heart ache doesn't rank)

guys dont forget collingwood were a kick away from a granny last year and we played well and attacking, it was just the forward line that really struggled but the game plan is starting to click

and if you have played football you know any side can beat any side on their day.

Remember last year at the MCG collingwood come from behind to beat us and prob cost us the finals spot, and second half of the year i dont think we were that bad?

Who did L Fisher play on?

I know Blake was on Cloke and Cloke was quiet, but was that due to Blake's good work or just how the game played out?

Leigh Fisher went to Lockyer at the start from memory.

Blindly delusional optimist. Fan of the Blake.

If it wasn't for Lockyer's late goal he wouldn't have had an impact.....so Fisher had a great game.

We looked pretty good compared to what we have been like.

The midfield was great, but our forwards just didn't stand up.

We lack urgency when we need it, in the last quarter we needed to get the ball quicker into an open forward line. If we do that, Gehrig can do something on a lead, Kosi can do good things and when Roo comes back he can help.

More urgency to get the ball into an OPEN forward line.

Not from me mate i was fairly happy you can play well and still lose games from some mistakes and a few passengers. At least we had a fair dip till the end this time.

Some good & some bad

Post: # 568172Post berniedquinn »

I agree there were positives too. Great effort from the midfield. However, consistency is needed. The backline was also servicable. Max & the 2 Fisher boys tried hard all night & it was great to see BJ back to his hard running defensive / offensive self. Very unlucky to have a free kick paid against him at the end of the third. This poor decision basically flattened us & we were gone after that.
I trust the coaching panel will be having a good look at the GTrain. Although the delivery wasn't real good, when the ball hits the deck he is practically useless. Too inconsistant for my liking & always has been, but again, a great stalwart of the club. Raph Clarke, I think, has been given far too many chances. He is soft & lacks the tanacity to be a league footballer.....
Any thoughts on the above

I agree with Lenny it was by far the best game we played this year.

You can't compare the filth to the Bombers because Collingwood are a far

better side. Structure was better we just needed an extra quality midfielder

and we probably would have run over the top of them
