Fergie

Post: # 578603Post tezza1 »

Thought it was a good game from Ferguson today. The guy can certainly take a mark and provided another option up forward.

The others looked for him as well which shows they have confidence in his ability to win a contested situation . It was a magical hanger he took later in the game which deserved a goal.

Also his attack on the ball and the man with the ball was good . I notice he played on straight away after marking which put the defenders under pressure. I think we need to persist with this guy as another forward option.

Today showed clearly he's a forward and not a back.

Well Done Lyon for playing him in the right position.

Strong hands Fergie strong hands indeed

So far, he looks like a great mark and a dodgy kick, so he should fit right in

Seriously, it was a good game, and another medium forward couldn't hurt. For his size he's good in the air.

Great marks inside 50, timed his leads to perfection. Just his shots on goal really let him down, 5 shots in all, 4 behinds and 1 missed the lot.

I think Loneragan and Ottens showed last night what happens to your kicking when you don't play AFL.

His kicking will get better as the pressure goes off a bit, get hands to it is 90% of the battle. Looks like a bit of a ball magnet down there. Worse case scenario for a developed player might be 50% efficiency in which case he kicks 2-3 today.

it ought to be easy for a medium forward in our forward line. all the opposition resources tend to go on double-teaming riewoldt and watching kosi.

so ferg was able to well and truly slip under the radar. if he can start converting a few of those opportunities he could snag a regular spot.

Did enough to hold his spot next week. Will need to improve his goal kicking.

Is one of those guys who will be scrutinised every game he plays. He is competing with Charlie Gardiner for a spot in the side and has been given the nod. Lets hope he makes the most of his opportunities. Could be an assett !!

Good effort
Shame he didn't bring the boots he wore for Casey the other week when he kicked a bag , but he presented and marked well , and played on quickly to set up a couple of good goals
Well worth persevering before considering Charlie again

Exactly.

I could tell he was going to miss the goal when he gave someone a high 5 as soon as he took the mark.
My exact words were "you have to kick it first mate !!"

his mark was great and his kicking for goal was no worse than one of our' forwards  who finally managed to snag one after several attempts and several pass offs.

He playeda fair game...not a good game.

Did enough to earn a second game, but missed som easy goals.

Was towelled up when moved to the backline. So leave him as a forward.

as a forward he was first to the ball the majoriey of the time and he dived into contests and threw himself at loose balls.

he looked like he was out to prove a point, it is just a shame he couldn't convert jis shots on goal.

Despite me not rating him since hes been at the club, Fergie played quite a good game today. He presented well, had very strong hands and offered a 3rd option up forward. Too bad he didn't score any goals, with 4 behinds and one shot which didn't make the distance. Has done enough to earn his spot in next week's side.

Man if he kicked accurately and had 5.0 instead of 0.4, the difference in topics would be huge,,,

Shame he couldn;t.

Im not too concerned he kicked 0.5 today or whatever it was. Its imperative we play him again next week and have another foward marking option. Less predicatibility the better V dogs.

Ferg's efforts today were just what the doctor ordered for our forward line, a marking 3rd option!.

I was very disappointed with Coach Inspirational's comments about Ferg at the press conference where he basically gave him nothing (he's not that young, we had to give him a run because he's played well in the VFL, no encouraging words at all).

If Ferg gets dropped after his performance today & they bring C.Gards or he makes way for X it is a disgrace.

Played a very good game today, took some strong contested marks, and moved the ball on quickly from them.

Kicking for goal was shocking, but, showed far more energy than C Gardiner has done in any game he played.

I thought he may have done his hammy late in the game though?

He did look like he'd done his hammy didn't he - but seems it might have just been cramp. Doesn't seem to be listed as an injury from the game and i don't think he was iced up from what I saw. Hope he's o.k.
