Kosi's mark

Post: # 578858Post Enrico_Misso »

Kosi took that 4th quarter mark in the goalsquare.

But the ump put him right round near the point post.
Kicked the goal.

But
I thought the rule was that if you marked in the square you took your shot from straight in front ?
I was sitting in L3 behind that goal and he definitely took it inside the square.

Please explain ?

Add it to the list of bizarre decisions in the last quarter.

You'd swear the umps had the Demons at the line with a margin.

The Kosi decision was just plain wrong. He clearly completed the mark between the posts. Lucky he kicked the goal.

Feet landed outside the square so that is the angle.

It is quiet simple all of the dodgy decisions against us were attributed to one man - Umpire Matthew "Dick" Head. Umpiregate we still remember.

It was Matt Stevic who put him on the angle.

He once said that he hated umpiring Sydney and St Kilda games and ranted on about the reasons: slow, clogged, etc.

He has had some shockers umpiring our games - both for and against.

I remember that. He said if I umpire either of those sides again he will deliberately pay bad decisions.

plugger66 - funny I thought he took the mark mid air just out of the square and landed inside the square ... funny how 2 people can see things differently ... must be harder for the umpires without the benefit of replays

Looking at the replay, the mark was taken with the hands outside the imaginary goal square line, with both feet landing inside the square, although one foot seemed to cut the line partially.

Could have gone either way and the umpires didn't have the benefit of replay.

watching on tv, sounded like the umpire was uncertain whether it was in or outside the square and asked someone (goal umpire maybe?). Thought it was a fair call - didn't affect the outcome of the game

The field umpire asked the goal umpire, who called it outside the square.
Wrong decision I thought.
Certainly doesn't add up to a conspiracy against us though.

In the 1st qtr there were 2 terrible decisions that were so blatantly wrong. Each time I thought that it would be Head who made the decision & no prizes for guessing who it was.

plugger66,

According to your ruling "Feet landed outside the square so that is the angle".
If a mark is taken behind the goal line, but your feet land in play, It is not a goal.
Would that be your ruling?

don't ask such a tough question, it will take him a long time to find a smart assed remark to it

it was clearly a wrong decision and as someone else said thank heavens he kicked it anyway and it did not impact on the result.

once again kosi is on the end of a dud umpire decision and perhaps we should bring this up with the umpires.

thought kosi struggled a bit even though his two goals put him ahead of riewoldt for the year in the goal-kicking.

however i noticed that milne and schneider at various times were recipients of some nice crumbs and three or four goals from pack contests involving kosi.

it just adds another dimension to your forward line having a strong physical presence in it who can hold his place in a pack, imo.

importantly it encourages quick delivery in there, which is half the area in which we've been going wrong.

even though roo, kosi or ferguson were unable to capitalise on it, i was very heartened by both the number of times it came in AND the speed of delivery.

Actually I watched the replay last night and the mark was taken outside the square. He went back a few steps afterwards on his land, but it was outside (only just)

plugger66 answer my question.

If the ball is marked behind the goal line, but the feet land in play, is it a goal or not?

Dont know the rules. Go and read the rule book. What has this to do with the Kosi mark anyway. I think a foot landed outside the square you obviously dont think so. Well so be it then. Some on here agree with you some agree with me.
