Clash strip

Post: # 578897Post LENNY LEADS THE WAY »

Surely what melbourne wore today was more of a clash.

Thoughts?

I think Melbourne were embarassed to play in that gear today.

In particular the long sleeved version looked ridiculous.

Yep..it was a clash strip all right...clashed with ours nicely from the front.
Made for the funniest sight of the day tho. Brock McLean in the long sleeved version (all-white sleeves) and a headband.

Well it is actually the AFL's fault.

If they actually cared to prevent clashes, they wouldn't have approved of the stupid strip Melbourne wore today.

Why couldn't they wear their predominantly bright red strip? It looks better and wouldn't clash as much.

But you can sell off your clash strip when playing Collingwood, so it's just another bend over to whoever/whenever for the AFL again on this one....

Agree with everyone -- that Melbourne strip was a disgrace to football.
And it clashed worse that the traditional red and blue.
Just looked like they were running around in grubby singlets.
They must have been so ashamed. Even at the beginning of the game!

IMO I don't get why Melbourne don't just go with a royal blue and red jumper like they did in the past, would look better, keep more people happy and actually prevent a clash!!

Why are the AFL such morons when it comes to the clash issue?

Speaking of which I wonder when we will find out what our clash jumper will be for next year onwards, if it is one of those training jumpers with the vertical stripes down the middle I think I would rather we wore Melbourne's atrocity...

St.kilda are trying to get our home jumper with a white back approved as our clash jumper for next year.

I am led to believe that this idea came from the club reading this site.

Don't quote me as I need an out clause, but this is what I am given to understand, to the best of my understanding of course.

Personally, I hope that the club is successful in this quest as our home jumper with a white back would be imho the perfect clash jumper.

Said the exact same thing to my little brother.

Awful.

Different colours should be implemented but never will because the AFL are soft.

Eddie had it spot on when he said on radio yesterday that half of the uniform is shorts and socks. And until they get that right, any kind of clash strip is useless.

The white/black for home/away short colours needs to be thrown out.

That would look brilliant. Just like our strip from the 50's.

Yeah, after the game when we were driving home, I heard a Melbourne supporter on there, saying that it looked horrible. Also heard another supporter say they might of won if they didn't wear it...

It wouldn't have been terrible if it weren't for the gradient, but still considering the quality of designs that were coming up on here a few months ago for our future clash jumper it's amazing that they can't make something that looks decent...

True, the design looked like a basketball jersey.
