Asst Coaches 2009 & beyond !!
All 3 of our Asst coaches will have been at the club for 2 years by the end of this year. I believe that at least 1, and possibly 2 of these will need to be replaced at the end of this year. We can argue and or guess who should go but we will need new faces, new voices and new ideas for 2009 & beyond.
Some of the names I have thought of that we might chase are;
Nathan Buckley
Sean Wellman
Greg Hutchison
Brad Scott
There are much sharper minds than I who can speculate on who should go and if I am on the right tram with possible replacements.
Ideas? !!

Well given the great job he appears to be doing with Casey in both results and the relationship between them and the Saints I would hope that we are going to insist he moves across to Sandy with us next season.
I have been very impressed with Buckley on both Ch7 and 3AW (he is much more knowledgable than I gave him credit for) I would love to think we can get him as an assistant?
I am happy with SOS
I have absolutely no idea about Barker - whether our lack of success up forward has anything to do with his input or not?

not sure why buckley would choose to not accept a assistant coaching role if we offered one on the basis that it it the saints. Might be enjoying his media role too much.bergsone wrote:Maybe they will stick with what they got,but doubt it.Dont know how Hutchinson will fit in with Sandy and their current coaching situation, but does sound impressive.Cant see Buckley a saint but yes comes across much better than i expected appears to be able to analyze what is actually happening
its a good question
rock has had a good past history as an assitant coach, SOS seems to be going a good job with the defenders. Barker doesn't seem the sharpest tool in the shed.

Michael Voss has said this weekend just gone that he will coach somewhere next year - an assistant's role may suit him in a bid to get experience before he takes on the Gold Coast role (if that comes to be).

has anyone heard what may be going to happen with the Casey and Sandy coaching situations?
or is it all on hold till end of year
I was under the impression that the saints were provoding some of the costs for greg being Full time and I know he is in the box on game days
but then heard that he is " Casey's" and will continue there.
I would imagine that the coaching situation would be the one requiring most discussion with the change of alliance- apart from players neeeding to develop new awarenesses.

<shrug> not all good players make good coaches, not all bad players are bad coaches.ralphysaints35 wrote:keep silvagni, draft Alex.!
get rid of Barker and actually get someone that was a good forward
but I concur, can't see anything good out of our forward line over the past 18 months.

Ah, our genius decision to fire him, get him picked up by another club, learn a lot, and then come back to the fold with some trade secrets.Zed wrote:Bring back Crippa - will have learnt a lot under Choco in his couple of years there (as did Alistair Clarkson and Dean Bailey)
Need someone who bleeds Red White & Black in the mix ..
is that you johnny barker?Halo Halo wrote:I really dont think it is Johnny Barker's fault or forwards are crap.. We would need a minor iracle for our goal kickers to be confident & accurate!!
I reckon keep Barker!!
our forward line WAS one of the most functional in the league, prior to barker's arrival...
in fact it was probably a strength of st kilda...
