Who is the biggest 'stager' currently playing?

Post: # 597615Post Mr Magic »

On reading teh 'Most hated Player' thread there were a few posters (including myself) who 'hated' some players because they considered them to be 'stagers'.

Who is the worst in the AFL?

Here are my top 2
Lloyd
Brent Harvey

Scott West
Brad Johnson
Peter Bell

And of course Paul Chapman. It sickens me that this bloke is referred to as 'tough'. Just because he's bald and ugly does make him tough.

Absolute shockers.

It's a real shame with West because he's such a champion, but gee his staging is pathetic.

Can't argue with that.

The master of the old 'get gently pushed in the chest and dive backwards like you've been shot at close range with a sawn-off shotgun' trick.

Also manages to dive forwards at the slighest hint of anyone being within a foot of him.

Jags his head backwards whenever he is touched by an opponent.

It's actually quite embarrassing. For him, and for the umpires that get sucked in by it.

Not a chance bloke.

He gets belted week after week.

He's tough as nails.

Best player in the L by a mile.

He's no sook, he's as good as we've seen in the last decade.

I've seen a fair few stagers.

From st KIlda

reiwoldt has 1 spectacular stage but he gets belted so often you can forgive him.

Loewe did a massive armcartwheeling dive grinning up at douggie hawkins who was outraged, but grinned back at loewe afterwards, one day buckets kicked 6 in a losing side.

ball, Im pretty sure, as ball falls to the ground clutching his forehead, he cuts it himself, as there are never freekicks or reports from his head clashes, Im calling Luke ball a self abuser!

Opposition

no one, even lloyd was better than Collingwoods, no.35, the macedonian marvel, peter Daicos, that man never got an honest free kick in his life.

Greg Williams was a classy stager, but he was pinched, pushed, punched in the clinches as much as reiwoldt and banger, you couldn't blame him for it.

Brent Harvey, the guy is a disgrace.

matty knights and Wayne Campbell the richmond sheepdogs were outstanding fakers, you couldn't touch them without them diving on the ground.

Silvagni, i used to stand behind the goals watching him niggle plugger then loewe, push, shove, push shove the umpire would turn around and silvagni was on the ground while winmar was streaming down the wing, and SoS would have a free kick, OH HOW THAT USED TO MAKE US BLOODY ANGRY behind the goals.

craig Bradley was another one, those skinny arms doing the backstroke when he was metres in the clear was astounding, still no where near the calss of the great Daicos.

you can have your brent Harvey's and your Matty Lloyds, but no one could stage for a free like Daics.

I was wating for someone to mention some Saints names.

Stewie was a shocker for staging the 'in the back' in a marking contest.

Luke Ball knows when to jag his head back to milk the 'head high' free - but due ot the fact he actually gets whacked every 20 minutes I let him off the hook.

I actually think Roo doesn't stage enough. Every time he goes near the nut he gets infringed against. Chopping arms, in his back, 'tunnelling' and head high.

He gets very little really.

Lloyd by a mile. Would love to see him genuinely munched in a fair bump.
My most hated player along with Kerr.

Can't believe it took that long for him to be mentioned. It was just a couple of weeks ago he pulled a shocker against us. Chronic diver and a disgrace to football.

i gotta disagree i saw him play against the purple earlier this year and the way the freo dogs kept on hitting scragging and kneeing him was shocking but he didnt once bat an eyelid nor take a backwards step my respect for Gabblet grew ten fold after that game

He isnt in the list of players in the paper today with the biggest frees for differential in the AFL that was published today. Interestingly we had 3 players in the top 10 for frees for and only one in the top 10 for frees against.

concur on peter bell, what a whiney toad he is, great player but touch him and he goes squeeling to the umpire.

he's not soft, not sure he's a stager, but he is a squealer.

runs to the umpire pointing at the player who touched him, wasn't like that as much at North though.
