Kane Tenace?

Post: # 658420Post sax »

From what I've heard, probably going to be delisted by the Cats.
From what I remember, he has pace to burn. Would he be worth doing a sort of "King, C. Gardiner" trade, say 6th round pick, to try and inject some pace? I reckon he'd be worth a crack! Yeh, he's had injuries, but only 23 and was taken no.7 in 2003! Better than bloody Fiora IMO!

Here's some info on him.

Completely different to Birss. Has pace for starters!
Birss has been admirable, and if we only give up a pick we WONT use anyway, WHO CARES!

We need to develop fringe players to suit our needs rather than just drafting any old fringe player that may suit our needs.

Who knows, we might even unearth a real talent while we try.

Exactly what we should do.

Where have you heard that hes likely to be delisted? Shannon Byrne may be in the same boat...

Worth a punt with a last pick in the national draft or PSD...

I know it's Wikipedia, but read this

"However, there is speculation that Tenace will be delisted at the end of the 2008 season."

We should sound out the Cats about Tenace and Byrne, see what theyre thinking and like you said, see if we can do another King / Gardiner late trade deal with one or both of them.

it also says on wikipedia that he signed a 2 year deal at the end of last year

why would the cats delist him and then be forced to pay him out the rest of his contract when they can keep him as backup incase the likes of bartel, ablett, corey or selwood get injured.

Going to have to come up with a few more names to delist then.

Kane Tenace has pace but that is it.

He is a hack in most other facets. No thanks.

Just because he has pace doesn't mean we should get him.

Just a tip for some of you people, when you play footy you have to be able to find the football and either kick it or handball it. Tenace can't do any of this, all he can do is run fast...

Tenace might have pace but it's not much good if you don't get the ball. Wouldn't have thought he'd be any better than Fiora. I don't mind Byrne. Would probably only consider him in the PSD. Save our picks in the National Draft for the kids.

Dunno, I reckon the Cats won't want King and Charlie back IMO.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

Our midfield, IMO, needs more bulk / strength, so they don't get thrown aside against the big boys. Tenace no.

After Blake's GF effort they probably would want King back....but no way, he is staying.

Tennace is a spud. A fast spud, but a spud none the less. If we are looking to trade for speed then Lovett is both quicker than Tennace and has the other virtue of being a pretty good player as well.

I'd rather him than 50% of those on our list. Seriously.

I'd be very happy with another Pick 90-ish swap.

As for Lovett - sure, I'd rather him, but do you want to give up a second rounder to get him?

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Exactly.

As I've been saying, Id be extremely happy with a last gasp trade for Tenace or Byrnes. We wouldnt give up anything huge for them, a 5th or 6th rounder at the most. Sure they're not superstars, but they have pace and SOME skills that can also be improved with matchday experience. Theres no greater training than playing matches. Something they havent been able to do with the Cats fantastic midfield and lack of injury / suspension in the engine room.

They are NOT spuds, theyre just not Ablett, Bartel or Corey.

Agreed.

Awful footballer. I reckon Clint Jones would be a more accurate kick.

We need to get away from picking up players with poor foot skills. It's killing us.

My understanding was that RL wanted to add skill, pace and systems into the list. With Tenace you get one of three. He has all the kicking skills of Clinton Jones.

What do we gain by delisting three or four lesser lights, and replacing them with more lesser lights? Tenace IS a fast spud. Byrnes is better, but we've enough small forwards, and a midfielder he ain't.

As to whether Lovett is worth a second rounder or not, that's RL's call. He could give us 100 games (my minimum criteria), so if we are genuinely looking to a flag within that timeframe then probably yes. If not, then not.
