Would it be worthwhile approaching Ablett?

Post: # 659243Post borderbarry »

Would it be worthwhile approaching Ablett? Nathan that is. He was always unhappy at the Cats, now retired at the ripe old age of 21 or 22. Could be a different attitude away from father's influence etc. I wonder if anyone has considered approaching him? Would be a great assett on our forward line.

If a players mind is not there, they will not be an asset

Would prefer to go for someone else..

We would be zero chance of luring him Barry.
He just has no desire to play at all.He has gone to Queensland to pursue a dream of being a builder.
If he had any desire to play at all he would have remained at Geelong.

I am under the impression that the Ablett obsession at Geelong may have had a detremental effect on him. A chance elsewhere may be good for him.

we might be able to help him build our new oval? other than that he will not be with the Saints next year

Didn't he give up footy because of commitment of training and the meetings?

OP: No.

Would rather go for Boyle anyway.

Nathan's heart is not in it - would be like recruiting... Malcolm Blight.

While he was still a good player, he was massively overrated because of his last name.

Did he nominate for the draft...... if not, this thread is academic.

the kid doesnt wanna play footy simple as that ... as much as it is most of our dreams to have been good enough to make it he obviously has differant things in life he values more then footy .. good on him for telling it as it is and not just doing it to make others happy ... at the end of the day there is more to life then footy ...(so im told )

I have a feeling all retired and delisted players are automatically registered for the following two years drafts.

We'd have more hope of getting Gary Ablett Snr, Kevin Ablett, Geoff Ablett or the recently passed, Alf Ablett to play for us than Nathan.

The kid isn't interested.
