Permission to train list - updated Dec 8

Post: # 671602Post evertonfc »

Adelaide - Brian Donnelly (Ireland)

Brisbane Lions - Daniel Dzufer (Brisbane Lions), Phillip Smith (Brisbane Lions), Joel Tippett (Brisbane Lions)

Carlton - Greg Bentley (Port Adelaide), Lachie Hill (Carlton Rookie List), Sam Jacobs (Carlton Rookie List), Darren Pfeiffer (Carlton), Chris Johnson (Melbourne)

Collingwood - Colm Begley (Brisbane Lions), Toby Thoolen (Collingwood)

Essendon - Hayden Skipworth (Bendigo Bombers), Tom Hislop (Essendon)

Fremantle - Chris Smith (Fremantle), Matthew Moody (Brisbane Lions)

Geelong - nil

Hawthorn - nil

Melbourne - Daniel Hughes (Melbourne rookie 2007)

North Melbourne - Alan Obst (North Melbourne)

Port Adelaide - Daniel Boyle (Central Districts), Daniel Caire (West Adelaide), Josh Carr (Fremantle), Thomas Dunne (Central Districts), Nick Fergusson (South Adelaide), Craig Fitzgerald (WW Torrens), Tom Fotheringham (Sturt), Tom Holmes (Glenelg), Gavin Hughes (Western Bulldogs), Damian Hynes (Central District), George Long (Port Adelaide), Charlie McAdam (North Adelaide), Jessie O’Brien (North Adelaide), Brayden O’Hara (Central District), Jay Shannon (Port Adelaide Magpies), Daniel Stewart (North Adelaide), Wade Thompson (North Adelaide), Daniel Webb (West Adelaide)

Richmond - Adam Cockshell (Port Adelaide), Fabian De Luca (Port Adelaide), David Gourdis (Richmond), Matt Davis (Coburg), Nick Liddle (Coburg), Jon Morris (Coburg), Fortunato Caruso (Coburg), Connor Meredith (County Laois, Ireland), Niall McKeever (County Antrim, Ireland), Tristan Cartledge (Richmond)

St Kilda - nil

Sydney - Kristin Thornton (Sydney Swans), Peter Faulks (Sydney Swans), Aaron Bruce (Sydney Swans)

West Coast - nil

Western Bulldogs - Liam Picken (Williamstown)
So, we're not interested in anything yet...though this list does get updated.

Chris Johnson and Josh Carr are the only two certain to get another chance.

Darren Pfeiffer and Matt Moody are more than likely; you'd expect someone will take Colm Begley and Joel Tippett is said to be some of athletic freak. Great to see Hayden Skipworth get a training gig - a player who should be playing AFL, but was squeezed out by the youth obsession. Another Shane Birss, really...and the 'hype' aroudn Hislop might ensure he gets a run somewhere, too.

Fortunato Caruso is one who I really hope gets drafted. I think he's more than capable of playing at AFL level, despite his size - look at the impact Cyril Rioli. If we get the chance to rookie him, I'd be delighted.

im interested in charlie mcadam at port - son of Gilbert-time.

Gilbert played 60 games for the saints - so charlie is not eligible for father/son.

apparently crows can get him under f/s because of his games played at central districts. anyone know anything about him?

Yes no one listed for the Saints yet - on BF, a poster said that Nathan Batsanis and Ryan Jackson were going to do pre-season with the Saints

I don't think he qualifies anyway

I meant for Adelaide- if they wanted him under the father son they would have had to have nominated him?

Yes, I think they would have, but again maybe he is not eligible under the father son rule...

Have a read of this Batnoe...

It amazes me that Jeff White has not been asked to train for any club ATM..

Yes he is about 32, but going on the season past his form is pretty good for a back up ruck..

this season he averaged per game (in 15 matches) over...

18 disposals

18 hit outs

6 marks

What more do you need for a "back up" ruckman???

McKeever reportedly flew in yesterday from Ireland to train with the Saints as well as Richmond.

I thought I read somewhere that clubs need to pay those who train with them at this time of year. Can anyone confirm this? If it is the case, then we don't want them to train with us if we aren't serious about picking them up.

Also, I think we have gone down the recycle track enough.

My thoughs on recycle;

Steven King = Value added player, not recycled

Charlie Gardiner = recycled player

!!

As McKeever was not on the list against St Kilda, and as we know that he will be trialling with us...most likely scenario is that the Saints have not lodged their permission to train list yet...or at least by the time the report was made

And as to Carroll...I do not think the Dees have delisted him and so he would not be able to train with other AFL Clubs unless special permission was granted.

Kristin Thornton is supposedly going to wind up on Sydney's rookie list if nobody drafts him. I wouldn't be surprised if the same happened to the likes of Gourdis, Hislop and Pfeiffer. Josh Carr and Chris Johnson look like they'll be PSD picks.

Very few of these guys actually catch on though. Mini trained with Hawthorn last year and wound up with us for our last rookie pick.

AFAIK, Nathan Carroll is still on Melbourne's list. He can't come train with us until they've finalised his payout. People get added to these lists all through the off-season. Gourdis was added to Richmond's permission to train list last year after the draft. So don't get too excited about him not being on this list. Don't be too down either if and when he does get added to the list.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Everton "cut" this off what he posted:

THE FOLLOWING unlisted players have been given permission by the AFL to train with clubs, as of Monday, November 10.

As the Saints do not start training till Nov 17....they may not have been in a rush...whereas other clubs are training this week.

What was all that talk of Niall McKeever coming to St Kilda.
Ricky Nixon has got him training at Richmond.
Richmond will get a much closer look at him than St Kilda and has it occurred to anyone that Richmond gets to pick BEFORE St Kilda.
