best 4 in the centre

Post: # 673875Post Solar »

ok away from cousins, seaford and other wonders of the saints world....

I question;

25 minutes into the final quarter of the 2009 prelim final. Stkilda and hawks have battled it out and scores are level. Everyone is fit and firing.... who would you as coach put into the centre square to win that VERY important clearance to win the game.....

(notes: all players are fit and in their best form they could have in 2009...)

mine would be gardiner, hayes, ball and BJ with gram and joey off the wings.....

who is our A grade line up?

Dal Santo somewhere there?

Dal Santo is still a gun player, he just can't break a tag..

Just look what he did against the first match against Hawthorn and the final against Collingwood.

mine would be gardiner, hayes, ball and BJ with gram and joey off the wings.....
"king taps it to hayes, hayes knocks on to ball, ball to goddard, goddard stands in a tackle and handpasses to gram, gram to montagna, montagna runs, outside the square and kicks to dal santo, dal santo wide, and kicks into milne, milne marks the ball low, rises to his feet, and chips to RIEWOLDT!!!!!!"

bleh, gardiner down to BJ, whose passage opens by some lovely sheparding by hayes and ball, fantastic one/two with gram and kicks from 55...... kosi shepards it through for a goal... saints in front ;)

beats having roo kick for the winner :P

LOL either/or.
It just demonstrates that there are more than one-million-and-one avenues to goal for St. Kilda in 2009.

Dunno the answer.

Let's just hope we don't have any players on 2.9 strikes after the match!

King taps to...two hawk players...ball tackles both, the ball drops, cousins swoops, dodges around three opponents, fakes a handball to dal, who is standing 30 metres away, bounces, sprints to the 50 and boots the winning goal! kosi looks up from the ground having crashed into roo, and both rise, arms raised in triumph!

Lots of possessions there, just like St Kilda!

How about King taps it out to Hayes. Hayes kicks a beautiful long kick and look whose in the goal square. It can't be, yes Max Hudgton marks and kicks St Kildas winning goal.

Riewoldt kicks the ball into the center of the post from directly in front of goal. :D

you would go for our 3 hardest mids and our best ruck

king, hayes, ball, cousins

bj if cousins is not there...bj doesn't really come across as a clearance type player despite his hardness and anger...

Another atrocious bounce.
Where do they find these umpires.
McKeever grabs it.
Dishes to Kielt.
Kielt by foot to Moran
Moran over to Walsh
Walsh kicks blind.
Siren
Wait for it.

GOAL

St Kilda's 4 Irish rookies combined beautifully.
Oh the luck of the Irish.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

That is some midfield. Very moist here to.

I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Gardiner...Taps to cousins.... cousins hand passes to Hayes, who kicks to goddard, who bangs it 60 metres to Allen alone in the square who kicks a goal.

yes if games of football were won on paper, we would be unstoppable.

However the fact that we didn't have a single mid in the AA team this year, leads me to believe the above names are hardly going to have the likes of hawthorn and geelong shaking in their boots.

Picking up ben doesn't make any of our blokes better players.
A decent short term replacement for harvs perhaps.... not the saviour of an entire midfield.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.
