Good luck to Graham Polak on Friday
The Richmond player Graham Polack who was run over by a tram last year is going to play against the Saints. I've never wished another team's player good luck before... till now.
I really hope this kid can make a comeback. Or even just play a full game soon.
My life has been touched by brain injury too and his story really touched me deeply.
Having said that... let's thrash those Tigers!
There are two stories about him coming back against the Saints below:

March 04, 2009 Eight months after being struck by a tram and suffering serious head injuries, Richmond defender Graham Polak will take another major step in his recovery on Friday.

Pretty sure you can get hit in the wrong spot in D grade ammo's. I'd be pretty sure the doctors would know what they are doing.saintspremiers wrote:Dunno if I wish for Polak to play senior footy again, it's a bloody hard game and could have serious ramifications if he gets hit hard in the wrong spot.
Praccy games, no drama, VFL may be fine also, but the real thing is a different universe.

"Polak's comeback to inspire Tigers
Martin Boulton | March 5, 2009
GRAHAM Polak will line up against St Kilda on ____________SATURDAY _____night — less than three months after Richmond sought to have him placed on the rookie list.
The 24-year-old, who was struck by a tram in June last year and placed in a medically induced coma, has been cleared to play by his specialists.
Assistant coach David King said Polak would play half of the NAB Challenge match, which is scheduled to be played under lights at Shepparton.
"It's part of his development and his progression back into AFL football and we'll just see how he goes," King said.
"He's certainly trained hard and certainly earned the right to come out and represent the club."
Polak sustained bruising to his brain when he was hit by the tram near his home in Armadale after the round-14 game against Carlton at the MCG.
In the days after the accident club doctor Greg Hickey said it was not known if Polak would play football again and the primary concern was for his long-term health.
Following steady progress over the pre-season, he played an intra-club match and yesterday King said "there's no expectations" ahead of Saturday's game.
"Ride a few bumps (and) take a couple of marks would be great," he said. "It's a great lift for us as a club, he's a much-loved player and we didn't know if he'd get back (to playing) and we're just thrilled.
"It's probably come around quicker than he thought, but he's ready and the boys are excited to have him back out there."
Richmond sought to have Polak placed on the rookie list ahead of the pre-season draft, which would have given the club an extra pre-season pick.
The AFL rejected the request and the club used its only pre-season pick to draft Ben Cousins.
"There was a big buzz when he (Polak) started back training and to see him play will be fantastic," King said. "We're thrilled he's out there, he's thrilled he's out there and we'll just take it from there."

That is rubbish. He didnt even have time to get drunk. They were at a function and had one or two drinks then were going to head out. If 2 drinks is drunk then we all have problems.Solar wrote:will get shouted down for this but the guy was drunk and walked in front of a tram....

It's not the matter of being shouted down it just the matter of wishing him all the best, he did seem to settle down and started to play some good football with Richmond and would be in their best 22.Solar wrote:will get shouted down for this but the guy was drunk and walked in front of a tram....
I wish him all the best from a football supporter
I really could not give a rats if he was drunk or not...
He did choose public transport if he was, not like many that drive behind the wheel.
All the very best to him
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
heard he had a few more then a couple....plugger66 wrote:That is rubbish. He didnt even have time to get drunk. They were at a function and had one or two drinks then were going to head out. It is a stupid comment and disgraceful thing to say and i can clearly say it is a lie.
Do you have proof. If not you should be ashamed of yourself.

Hmm heard this story the other day about a girl who was hit by tram while she was doing an errand for work. not sure the extent of her injuries.
Also I was waiting for a tram one day and was busying typing a text and this tram flew by without me realising it was coming - the newer ones are pretty quiet.
so yeah it happens to sober ppl too.

It's a lot easier to avoid a tram than a car.plugger66 wrote:For your information a friend of mine was hit by a car and killed at 8am in the morning and I can assure you she hadnt had a drink. I actually lived pretty much on that corner he got hit for 6 years.
The intersection there is disgraceful. Trams come flying past at ridiculous speeds. When theres abit of traffic you cant even hear them and if its dark then its hard even to see them until the last second.
Have had a few close calls.

I thought he was running across the tram tracks in a median strip to catch a taxi. Caught the tram instead.
