Great night at The Jihad !
At least after quarter time when we stopped trying to play the Shytney game plan.

Great to see some of the younger players coming through.
How good was Gilbert.
Zac Dawson looks like the Maguire replacement in our defence.
Farren Ray was handy.
Goddard already looking like a good bet for our B&F
And the usual good-things went well - Ball, Dal, Fisher, Monty

Great to see Bakes back.
And Gardiner looks like he might deliver this year.

All in all a solid start at The Jihad.

All great points. Especially Bakes. Boy I missed him.

I'm hoping it was early season lack of fitness, but I was disappointed we let them get to within 15 of us when we clearly pulled their pants down for 2 quarters.

I personally thought fisher looked disinterested and wasn't manning up.
Didn't think he played very well tonight!

I agree with the sentiments, but I feel that the reference to Jihad is offensive to the Islamic community.

probably because it suggests that all arabic words sound the same and are only spoken by terrorists; which is doubly offensive because it conflates arabs and muslims.

I don't think it's too far a stretch to replace "Et" with "J", for the purposes of parody.

How on earth can it suggest that?

Well I'm calling it the Jihad  Why dance around on tippy-toes about calling it that? More political correctness effecting our freedom of speech?

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

But it's not called that, you are going out of your way to change it from a name to something that represents death and war initiated by the muslim people, that is not political correctness going to far.

Lets start calling the MCG the KKK

Jihad doesn't mean 'death and war initiated by the muslim people'.

Now that is an offensive comment.

Once you get down off your high horse, perhaps do some reading before you come across as an ignorant moron more concerned with how other people conduct their lives than your own.

Means something along the lines of 'holy struggle' although in practise it is usually a religious war analogous with the christian's Crusade.
