Has he improved his running capacity or what?

He seems to be a hell of a lot fitter this year. He seems to be putting in the hard yards to get to more contests. He is getting his reward by getting a lot of the footy (over 30 touches in the first 3 games?). Really pleasing to see Dal work on his fitness, and take a step up into potentially becoming an A-grade midfielder!

This extra fitness base will really help him deal with taggers. Did anybody notice how he was outrunning Selwood from pretty much the 2nd quarter onwards? Couple this with his added hardness at the pill, and a bit of extra intensity, and I think we could finally be seeing Dal realise his true potential! Kudos to him for working very hard over the off-season!

It was also very interesting to how much more demonstrative he has become. I've never seen him fight back so hard after getting hit late after disposing of the ball. He is usually a lot more mild mannered. I think he's had enough with "putting up with crap" from others. Let's just hope he doesn't pay a price in suspension time as he is really playing to his ability now. He should be very proud of his efforts and he will recognized as an "A" grade player if he can sustain thgis standard of play. Who knows, he is capable of winning a Brownlow.

hope he hasn't taken the criticisms on here too personally and added a "hard man" dimension to his game. he doesn't need to.

just needs to play his natural game (as he's done fabulously well this season) only more often and more consistently.

I have noticed something that really does not mean much but the players do have a very much set routine when it comes to pre game.

He always used to came out of the race and thru the banner second last only to Milne being the last player thru the banner.
I did notice after watching the replay this weekend he was up the front and not trailing the rear end.
I know it does not mean much in the whole scheme of things, but it does appear he has changed his habits all the way done to something so pointless as coming out onto the ground.

I know I know, its sad and i really do need to get a life.

maybe he has decided he is a leader and wants to lead the team out with koz and roo and the others who come out first.

I would think by the first three games he has done exactly the opposite to everything you have just said, (apart from the consistent bit)

His natural game is as gifted and creative ball user with great vision, not a "tough guy".

I think it would be a mistake for him to try to be something he is not. For one thing, we need him out there ... not suspended.

Dal has become a more complete player this year...

He has become the player that many of us knew he could be..but wasn't.

ELITE.

Still it is only 3 rounds...lets hope the transformation is permanent.

no i think you misssed the point about what you wrote...
I think he has taken onboard the criticisms
I think he has been more accountable this year, and if that means getting in the thick of it, so be it.
And his "natural game" last year is what was drawing the criticisms, happy to trot round, play his own game & get @25 possies.
early days as SrR said, but I am very happy with the "new NDS"

i think it was you who missed the point of what i wrote.

what i'm saying is that if he is responding to criticisms of being soft by becoming a thug who goes around whacking blokes he is on the wrong track.

he doesn't need to.
