Milney.....

Post: # 729619Post saintspremiers »

I was stoked with his game tonight.

A real thinking man's game.....awesome disposal, positioning, and movement throughout the park.

He is living up to his childhood hero, John Platten (although a different type of player), and worthy of the number 44.

He has the makings a clever veteran type player that may be around a few years yet.

Gone are the stupid decisions of his younger years, perhaps he will even get better???

Almost played as a mid tonight. Whoever here said his tackling and 2nd efforts were non-existant Id trust would be feeling a bit foolish

Made more amazing by the fact that he can do it time after time...e.g. North Melb last year on the GC.

He's a freak, but he's our freak!

IMO has really matured and come to grips with the defensive side of his game while not letting it affect his natural flamboyance.

My son said "goal of the year", as he (Milne) picked up the ball...

When Milney slotted it, everyone laughed as one. A truly funny moment..
Beautiful timming.

And yeah should be goal of the year.

Well done to RooyCoin (my son) for the early call!

Brilliant goal - it's funny, because you could preempt it. As he was picking up the ball you knew straight away "goal". :D

While this is a forum and freedom of speech is a right in a democratic society, I think there are a few too many experts on here who like to sink the slipper in when times aren't going our way. Sounds a bit like the Geary bashing that was going on earlier on last year. Now that guy is turning into a star! Give him Robert Harvey's jumper and it wouldn't look out of place on him

The Tiprat was an absolute star tonight, serious contender for goal of the year there.

what a star! what a goal ! and just love the way he a schnieds team up and look for each other When Schneids came I thought it might be a case of he or milney for a spot but wow they are just a super dangerous combo up there, and just seem reallt happy to give off goals to one another And relly potent back in the dry with Koz to feed off

congrats to the selectors with Eddy in under the conditions ' but I think they will have to look to going back to the missing forward tall back at home Big Mac has to be a show

Loved his goal, but we expect that sort of stuff from him! 8-)

He used his football brain beautifully last night and set up plenty of chances. His game has gone up to a level where we all expect him to be when he isn't kicking big bags of goals.

He's been my favourite consistently for 7 years now and when he produces stuff like that, it's not hard to see why. An excitement machine and with his progressive improvement in his defensive side he is a very valuable, very damaging player.
he's proving the interstate hoodoo to be nothing more than a myth, a great all round performance last night.
Great job Milney, best small forward in the comp for mine!

Amazing whata bit of faith does....

One coach states that he can't play interstate...and wants to trade him.

The other shows faith and DEVELOPS him asa player..

Milne's DEFENSIVE side has improved enormously..landed 4 tackles...

Milne is now a much more complete and consiteant player....and an opposition coaches nightmare.

I also can't wait till Schneider match fit.

These two are going to cause our opponents a lot of grief.

So true SR, and especially with Milne being such a confidence player. It's just such a nice change having a coach who actually plays him rather than having him sitting on the pine for extended periods. Ross is getting the best out of him and it's a credit to them both.

Just didn't quite know what to do with a wide open space in front of him down a wing-----

Good point - I'm not sure it is great coaching - seems like the sensible thing to do to me.

But it's great to see in any case. A couple of years ago, it was very disheartening to see Milne on the wing or on the bench. Most of us knew where he should have been. Now the opposition know that there is no rest - one mistake in our fwd line and Milne pounces. Just a small opportunity and .... Goal of the Year coming up...

It does seem that our coaching panel has now got the offensive / defensive mix right - and with a bit of luck (without too many injuries) we can be very confident about the remainder of 2009.

One of the things I enjoyed last night was the booing from port supporters when port chipped it backwards - we put them under so much pressure they could not go forward. That was great.

I agree, wholeheartedly

GT never played or rated Milne and didn't develop him as a player at all

funny how time distorts ppl's perceptions

He may have improved heaps under RL, but GT did a lot for him 2
