Lenny Hayes

Post: # 729641Post yipper »

Back to his best, 23 touches at half time. Reckon he tired a bit in the 2nd half, but definately back to his old self, brilliant game. Easily BOG one tough unit is our Lenny.

I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Yeah great game alround, BOG. Good to see him step up, someone was bound to, with Dal having Kornes on his ass all day. Lenny was his old self, gutsy clearences, physical presence, tackles. Love the way he goes about it.

How was the way he threw himself head first at Brogan?! So courageous and typical of how much he wants to win the contest, every contest! Great game.

Only frustrating thing is his goal kicking. Can't kick one from directly in front, but then is on the boundary, under pressure and splits the middle. :P

Totally agree, Lenny took control of our midfield with Dal and Joey both a bit down on their usual performances. The incident where he went in head first to clash heads with Brogan just shows how tough and courageous he really is.

Lendog was simply unbelievable tonight. The passion in which this guy displays in the red, white and black is nothing short of inspiring.

Some of his attacks on the footy and tackling last night bordered on kamikaze like.

I hope it gets highlighted, but there was one tackle that seriously made me jump out of the chair, believing he must have almost killed someone with the ferocity of the hit.

Scary thing is, he's only warming up!

Ah Lenny Hayes. I can't even describe a word for him he just leads by example. He's a star footballer and his work both with and without the footy is remarkable. Great to have him back fit and firing, he is crucial to our success. I also think his disposal has really improved this year and it was pleasing to see him kick a beauty, he seemed to have that extra desire after missing an easier one. Deserving of the medal last night, a true (vice) captain's game.

Yes, a wonderful goal from around the 50m mark on the boundary (in traffic).

A class act is our Lenny.

You always wonder if older players can ever get back to their peak levels - but no doubt about Lenny. :D

Lenny is definitely an elite footballer. His sometimes questionable kicks for goal are somewhat reminiscent of a certain #35 he has a great admiration for. It didn't stop him from being a true champion of the game. :D

his field kicking was incredible last night- best i remember seeing from him.
Only blemish was the set shot he shanked, although that goal on the run definately made up for it.
We are very lucky to have a player like him in our side.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.

His attack on the footy on the wing against the soft c**k neanderthal thug Brogan was very impressive.

You could see who wanted the footy more.

Harvs was pretty reliable in front of goal in his last few years I thought? I'd back Harvs before Hayes from 30 out :)

Absolutely. No argument there. Harvs' goalkicking was definitely better towards the end of his career. I was referring to an overall view of his goalkicking. Harvs has said himself it is an area that took him longer than he would have liked to develop. He actually gave us some pretty exciting goals to cheer right towards the very end there.
I'm one of the last people you'd ever find to criticise Banger. He's my favourite footballer ever, and Lenny is next in line for me. It was just my way of making a comparison between one legend of the game and another. It was actually meant to be a post in defense of Lenny!
